lowbuck. whatcha doing with the rest of the clip that got clipped?
There's not much left form the donor clip. When you use a heat gun to separate panels, you gotta be careful not to do heat damage to the part you're keeping. The heat will soften the bonding adhesive, but then when you pry the two panels apart you will most likely distort and damage one. On my car I chose to protect the underlying panels, sacrificing body pieces. I even shot a short video using the heat gun. On the donor clip, I sacrificed the underlying panels to save the rear deck. So I cut away some fender for better access. I do have most of my original couple roof that I cut off, with the sail panels and removable rear window and frame. I also have my old t top, but I will be keeping the hold down clamps for my removable hardtop. Is there anything in particular you need? I can take pictures of what's left.
What great progress you are making on this project! Looks like your donor car was either a 74 or 75 based on the rear bumper mounting holes. Keep the progress photos coming.
Ok, i assuned that deck was cut to size. There is the bumper cover flange. i always wondered why he didn't put the whole body on.
Yes, the rear clip was from a '74-'75, but it had what I needed and the price was right. Been doing a little body work on the rear deck, but it was 99 degrees today and the sweat was just rolling off my forehead. Hopefully I'll have the rear deck and primed by the end of the week. Then I think it's on to the windshield header. I'd like to be able to fit the hardtop before too long.
Simply stunning , when I was hunting my car in 08-09 I thought about doing this conversion to a nice 76 I had I didn't care what year my car was only that it was a convertible and "looked" chromie the bumper part is easy,
Man o man, your thread shows why I chickened out and just bought a convertible...again...stunning.

Thanks again for the words of encouragemant. I got the fuel tank and spare holder back on today, and also did I test fit of the hardtop. Now, I gotta score some door glass. I also gathered up all the leftover parts and listed them in parts for sale.

Well, my decklid came with no hardtop attaching hardware, nor did the hardtop I bought, and that stuff is expensive! So being the cheap *** I am, I made my own no cost mount. Took a scrap piece of aluminum, cut it to shape, gave it a little polish, made a template from a business card and then a bracket from a piece of angle steel, a couple of 3/8 bolts and wingnuts, and it's good enough.

Absolutely amazing. You did a great job and that second picture says it all.
