I was just curious if anyone put a clear bra (3M) onto a C3. I have a few small chips already on a paint job that is only a year or so old. I would like to hear any suggestions or opinions on a clear bra. Thanks in advance.
Don't know about a 'clear' bra for the car; but there are several brands of clear plastic film that you can put on your car to protect it from 'road rash'. Removable car 'bras' have problems with seams and stitched areas rubbing-thru painted areas as they move/flap in the breeze. Some clear films aren't easily removed or may pull off paint when removed.
Do your research to find out exactly what product you NEED. Consider where you are getting road-rash, so that you might only add protection where you need it.
If you just get the 'occasional' nick/ding and you have a solid paint color, consider becoming proficient with repairing such nicks yourself. Over the coming years, you will...without question...need to master that skill.
Nobody..... anybody...., I know newer cars use the clear bra or something similar and I was curious if anyone put one on their C3? I was hoping for second opinions and pricing. Thanks

Thanks for the reply, yes I was talking about the clear film. I haven't heard many people talk about in for the older cars. Thanks for the advice. I would like to master the paint repairs, I am a far way from having that skill, but someday possible. Thanks
If you didn't get a small bottle of touchup with the new paintjob, now
Is the time to get it. Others may do it differently, couple things I learned on chip repair, don't use the bottle brush, use a very fine sharp tip artists brush. And don't try to do it all at once. Keep the paint inside the chipped area and keep building up the layers as they dry until you get the chip level with the surrounding paint. Not difficult, just takes patience. Just my $.02. YMMV.
I also had same problem after new paint job . I talked to the body shop who painted my car and they said to put the clear plastic on front . found a couple of shops in town that apply a product called Dura Shield Flex . Cost was around 500.00 but I think well worth it considering the price I paid to have car painted and it does help protect from many chips up front .Hardly notice when you look at car.
Had Xpel on my Audi. Not very noticeable, self sealing. Had 3M Scotchguard on a Honda, but it was a little more noticeable, had a slight orange peel to it. Bought a kit from invisible mask for a del sol a few years ago. ( http://www.invisiblemask.com/paint_protection.htm )
It was pretty easy to apply, watched a lot of youtube!
I think the Xpel was better, but pricier.
Do a search for Xpel ppf paint protection film on the forum. you will find a lot.
I think it is well worth it.
I put some ppf in front of my wheel wells, I think I got it from Zip. It was precut and pretty thick.

The stick on type products have several drawback as opposed to a spray on type protection. Peel off at edges, scratches, orange peeling, yellowing and hard edges that collect wax.
If I were to get a protective coating it would be a spray application. Depends on how much you want to spend as to what it would be.
This one is cheap but only last a year. http://www.autozone.com/landing/page...der-spray-film

You could also have an extra clear coat added to the existing clear coat. Just not too thick or that in itself can make chipping more prominent.
Plasti-dip in the spray cans is also a temporary alternative. Not a very glossy one though.
Thanks for the replies, the Chip magic sounds pretty good. I haven't hear of a spray on type protection. I will have to look around to find a place that does it. Thanks
