I found another one. This is a 72 base with automatic, P/S, A/C, power brakes. power windows. Asking 17.5K but negotiable.
He has the center caps to the rally wheels. It about a 3 hour drive to go check it out. Expert advice requested. You guys have kept out of trouble so far...

Not knowing what you are looking for...such as a driver or a prefect numbers matching car.
I would wash the car and see how much water is getting into it....and common sense does apply when you are shooting the water on it.
The #2 body mount area looks good for its age. I have seen MUCH worse than that.
But as you know...there is a lot more than meets the eye and what can be seen in the photos posted. I am more worried about the frame and condition of key areas that like to rust out.
The obvious things I am sure you know all about such as how well it handles, brakes and if it is leaking oil like crazy.
The odometer does give me a bit of concern...but not a major thing...which all depends on why you are buying a car like this....driver/factory perfect.
There has been interior parts that have been replaced...that is NO doubt. The 14th photo shows how the right door panel is NOT caged to the door frame at the rear edge and NO screw where it should be.
Car looks good...but I have seen many like this that when 'things' are checked out...there are problems that can cause the cost to rise instantly.
I am by no means an expert, but that is a good looking C3 for 17k. I may be wrong but if the frame checks out like Bob K said I wouldn't hesitate to spend that kind of money on it.

I'm hoping to get him down into the 16s. He seemed like he really wanted to sell it. I think the market for these cars is soft and he doesn't want to sit on it. It is at a dealers lot.

Not trying to answer for DUB, but the "6" in not lined up with the first "7" and that is usually an indication that the odometer has been rolled back. The only way to really tell the true mileage is to see maintenance records with the odometer recorded when serviced.

That is not a concern for me on a 43 year old car. If I were looking for a DD or something then it would be. I'm more concerned about body rot and bubba. I plan on having a lot of things done to whatever car I eventually get. I'm just worried about the things I cant see.
These grills tell a story too. They should be level and mate up to the bumperettes almost seamlessly. Not the case. Something is not lined up or possibly bent - in my opinion.
Also, the front bumper does not sit level with the body. Passenger side body looks like it's tucked under the bumper but it's sitting above the bumper on driver side.

Looks like a small car lot....The sign says they will take consignments....I wouldn't be surprised to find out this one is on consignment. I don't see where that makes much of a difference other than the price may not be all that negotiable. Ask if anyone close by has a lift so you can get a good look at the underside.
The body on this one lines up better than mine, however I know mine took a hit to the nose at some time but wasn't fixed very well. It doesn't really bother me.
I think at 16 this car would be a pretty good deal as long as it doesn't have rust issues....But that is JMO.
Good luck
Brian
PS....If you buy it and decide to replace the radio I'd be interested in it.
I would like to see pictures of the body before it was painted, pics of the wreck damage.
So you feel that it has been wrecked.... Any suggestions to what to look for to confirm this? I can't nitpick the car to death. I know I'm not going to get a perfect car. I've got to decide what I will accept and what I can't. Frame and birdcage rot is a no-go but it having been wrecked in its 43 year existence is no so much. If I was looking at a car with a 35k asking price then that would be a different story. I'm off work tomorrow so I'm going to go take a look at it. I don't have anything else really to do anyway.
Honestly, I've looked at many older Corvettes and if having the grill not be lined up perfectly is a sign of a wreck, then I've seen a hell of a lot of wrecked Corvettes.
