What is the best dynamat to use to stop heat in the interior and who to buy it from. Thanks Grant

The mat is more for sound. Big box stores have a heat barrier called "Reflectix". Many people have used both, with mat on the bottom, and relectix over it.
Check around before you buy... there are several "mat" products out there, Dynamat, Hushmat, Fatmat...almost exactly the same, but WIDE variety in price!
I saved enough on the mat to add the reflectix ( including silver tape and spray glue!)

IMO, the BEST heat insulation material is jute padding, similar to what was installed at the factory. Dynamat is not intended to be a heat insulator....it is a sound-deadener. Reflectix works pretty well...for a while. Once that product starts to lose its integrity, the heat will come back.

Jute is relatively inexpensive, but is a good barrier to heat.

Concur with the other posts. Dynamat does nothing for heat...I had to add a reflective heat barrier and with both not a bad combo.

I've been very happy with the reduction of noise and heat from the combo of Dynamat and Reflectix.

A couple things worth noting: The dynamat has razor sharp edges, especially after trimming. Be careful when handling the edges.

Also when I got near the end of my project, I was a little short on the matting, so I ordered some hushmat. Same basic principle, but the tar-like backing and the foil of the dynamat was significantly thicker. Also dynamat had superior adhesion.

As earlier posters noted, the dynamat is for sound reflectix for heat. And the reflectix is very cheap in comparison.

Good luck.

Agreed.... but there is jute padding on the back of the carpet also. So with the mat, reflectix, and the backing on the carpet, I`m hoping that will do it!
One other note is that I had to trim a little of the jute padding off the back of the carpet to get the push plugs into the back wall, the footman loops for the T-top straps, and the dimmer switch.

Doesn't all the layers of hushmat, reflectix, and jute padding on carpet cause fit issues on new carpet installations?

I used Dynamat (sound) and then 1/4 inch Dynaliner (heat) on the firewall. I figured this was only something I wanted to do once and I was going to use the best product for the best result. There was reflectix already there that needed to be replaced.

Also keep in mind that products like reflectix are designed to work with open air between it and the surface ...think joists and rafters in a house. not that it wont work at all when you glue straight to your car. just don't expect to get the advertised result. You get what you pay for with products like reflectix.

I did some some extensive internet searches on the topic before just deciding to sped the extra money on Dynamat and Dynaliner and although I didn't bookmark the comaprison tests I found here is a quick article on reflectix I found from doing a 10 second search http://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/...-being-sold-hd

This is the route that I'm going take. The 1/4" Dynaliner on top of the Dynamat Extreme. I'm doing my floor boards now. Can't wait to see the difference in audio quality, noise reduction, and cabin temperatures.

I use the DynaMat Extreme layer first...then go in after that with the Dynapad. I have had very successful results with that.

I can give you a member here on the forum whose Corvette I did and he can tell you how well it works in the summer if you have an interest.

Oldgto highlighted the main areas.
I had to trim back a few places where the trim met the carpet.

Anyone not insulate behind the seats? Does it get hot back there?

I used ACC carpet from Willcox and reflectix everywhere and didn't
glue any down. Drove this summer and the interior never got hot.
As you see, I live in Louisiana so I think this was a good test.
I covered the back as well as the floor because I think it will help
the air conditioner stay cooler. ( The air is not hooked up yet and
the vent keep me cool this summer.)
This is my experience, others may have had different one.
