Kick Panel - Deluxe Interior mod.

No wonder I'm not back on the road yet.Finishing the door panels (wood grain insert issues) and I was looking at them and realized that it was missing something (to me anyway)
Everything looks good
Goes along nice.... and stops

So after much screwing around I present "Deluxe Interior Kickpanels that GM forgot to put on my car" (TM)

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

The original mounting pods were cut down, bottom tapped (wow are the original holes off center) and had short studs loctited in place. Spring retainers to hold everything in place

Made some fake strips that matched the width of the trim and taped them in place to get the proper location / angle / flow so they looked right and used this as the rough height
The bottom trim needs to more or less follow the disappearing crease in the original
The bottom trim is made from some stainless sheet I had, tried aluminum but it didn't form very well. Made a cardboard template that follows the shape of the original panels and then copied in the stainless
It's held with a couple of machine bolts through the bottom of the panels cut off flush with the nuts, there's not much room back there. Tried screws first but they were too long and interfered
The carpet was first cut oversized on the height and has a edge binding sewed to the trailing edge which follows the door opening curve, bottom is pinched under the lower trim
It (the binding) sits flush with edge of the panel, we tried bringing it around the panel but there isn't enough room to tuck it in behind again
Hard part was trimming the curve out around the vent opening, it was marked from the inside, and then cut slightly bigger to clear.
There is a piece of black "door edge molding" material with the glue inside it along the curved edge of the vent
Hope this helps
