Well guys here is my new toy,i done it i got her sitting in my garage,70 454,most all orginal.54,000 miles on her and i know there is no way to prove this but i belive it to be orginal because i have some documentation to go with it and also have a little of orginal owner's paper work with his name on several papers, also the tank sticker but it is not very good shape.Car is just to good of shape to have a lot of miles.Motor, trans, rear axle and color, all match perfect.Got to do some things to it,got some seals leaking, master cylinder, valve pan gaskets just a general going over. The guy had a lot of it restored 15 years ago and he drove it around 2000 miles over that period of time, so go figure.Radio, fiber optics, and everthing on it works ever the dash lights, got to remove the tach as the needle is broken it works but got to have a new needle instaled.Well guys got work to do but i hope it is going to be worth it because they aren't many of these cars around and i really enjoy driving it to the shows and cruise in's.It has had a repaint 15 years ago when he had it redone. Car hasnt been cleaned up in a long long time he told me so when i do get to clean it should look a lot better.
Hi gy,
The car looks good in the pictures!
If there aren't any unforeseen serious problems I think you did well at that price!
I hope it gives you a lot of pleasure. A bb 4-speed convertible should be BIG fun!
Good Luck!

Alan
if the front grills look good then the mileage is probably accurate. The 1970 front grills are one year only. The 71 & 72 grills have screws and the '70 has studs....with high mileage, the grills will be worn and pitted.
Ya just got done cleaning up on the front grills somewhat, the front honycomb part is chrome plated and when i rubbed on them for a while they started shining up pretty good,i say i got them to 70% shine including the big piece of chrome on the edge, orginal for sure. The inside of them that is the orginal dark gray will need painted and sanded down a bit but very good shape and all the studs are still there in the back of them, never been off or hit in the front that i can tell.I am going to try to remove them soon so i can paint the inside but hope i dont break the tabs off,got to be very, very careful.I will need to replace the bumperetts or have them rechromed.
This car also has some kind of black plastic piece up in there when the headlights are down it covers themin front looks like, not for sure what these pieces are but still good shape.Never noticed them on any corvette before but never looked that close. You can see it in the pic i have attached behind the grill holes.I left a little white gunk from the cleaning here and there you will see but will come off later.
Hi gy,
I believe the headlight shields ("black plastic pieces") serve two purposes.
First they prevent the headlamps from being broken when in the down position by a small rock being thrown back by the vehicle ahead.
Also, they 'hide' the headlights from being seen through the grills when the lights are down.

Alan
Hi gy,
The 3893820 is the casting number for bb heads used in 1970 and 1971.
The dates:
E4 70….. May 4 1970
D2 70….. April 2 1970.
Nice!

Alan
