You're a few years behind me on some of the exact things I've done on my 79. I stripped mine to bare fiberglass right after i bought it and had it repainted, and I did the heater core 2 winters ago. I found a great step by step instruction thread here and it wasn't hard at all to me, just time consuming, and of course all the "while I'm there's" Looks like you've made some great progress. BTW, I LOOOVE the 4 speed GS!

Thanks! The GS has been a bundle of fun and has got a great deal of respect among the car shows we go to.
The heater core was not to bad to do just had issues with the fit of the inlet and out let pipes and hose routing. As far ar the other related problem was the vacuum lines. The ones under the hood from engine heat were damaged from heat and old age so I replace all the vacuum line for the heat/AC harness. If you or any members need some tips on the vacuum harness I found some things to make a nice job on it.
Nice work here and I love to see this Vette getting some love.
Any plans for the drivetrain or are you planning on leaving it stock?
Thanks! As far as the drive line, pretty much thinking of leaving it stock. I hear so much about some complaining of the ride (mainly non-Corvette owners) but this 79 is comfortable, quiet (inside) and a pleasure to drive.
Just got the clutch and transmission back in this weekend and now can concentrate on the dash and center console.
Very nice! Makes me want to paint mine. I've been putting it off because its nice not to worry about scratches.
Point well taken! Black is a challenge! I have a black GMC Yucon as my daily ride. It cool not to need to worry about scratches but a black ride clean and polished looks pretty cool too .
Pretty cool to see a C3 Down Under! Looking good as well! Are there many C3 Corvettes down there?
Thanks! Not a huge number, but not a tiny number either. I've seen probably 4-5 other c3s on the road over the years, not including those that I looked at when buying (would bring the number up around 10). But there was a big meeting over Easter in Sydney that had 97 Corvettes attend from around the country - I wasn't there, but must have been quite an experience! When our $ was high relative to the US $ a few years back, a lot of older US cars were imported. Anything under 30 years old has to be converted to RHD to be driven on the road here, which adds a huge cost to newer model imports. I think there's a lot of them here that aren't driven very often. There's quite a few Aussie members here on the forum.

People go onto this forum with real questions and concerns, and this stupid post gets 3k in looks. Jesus! Whats the matter with you guys?!
This post took me back a bit! Did you read the post start to finish? Are restoring a Corvette? The Forum is dedicated to Corvette and it's owners and it's preservation. What is cooler then a member that is a mechanic of 45+ year sharing and enjoying restoration. Many come here to learn about working on the Corvette and I as one will go out of my way to help out another member, this is what it is all about and why there are many views. How often does some one get a free C3 Corvette and take it to the level I'm shooting for? I have maintained this for a close friend for over 30 years. I'm not trying to offend you just trying to explain your concern.
