Hey everyone, I got a '78 L82. Had it for a year, painted it, now just finishing some minor work under the hood and we will start taking it out. I replaced both valve covers this week, found a bad tachometer filter and pulled the qudra-Jet for rebuild. It had a terrible time starting and staying running when colder and the secondary's were not kicking in at all along with a terribly high idle. So my question is with everything ripped apart already, should all the vac lines and other parts they plug into be replaced? Im not sure if its worth it or not, or even what is involved....
Did you also remove all the "emissions stuff" when you changed the covers? If so, you likely opened up some vacuum leak paths that you didn't have before. Also, since you "rebuilt" the Q-Jet, it is certainly possible that something went amiss there, too.

I searched the Wilcox Installation & Tech webpage for the 1978 L82 engine vacuum schematic. This is what you need to check both vacuum hoses and the ports they route to.
As 7T1 indicated, new parts are not required...closing vacuum leaks is required after ripping everything apart.
