Default C3 wiring

I am in the process of altering the lights on my Stingray to meet UK regs and have found a pair of loose wires at the rear end behind the number plate coming out of the loom with the number plate light wires. One is red the other black. Can anyone tell me what they would be intended to be connected too, also where to find them in the cockpit.
Many thanks in anticipation. Mike

We'll probably be able to help better if we know the year. They changed a few times between '68 and '82.

Hi c,
Does your alarm system work? What are the connectors like?
Perhaps the 2 wires are for the alarm?
Check to see if the switch in the center of the rear panel is hooked up.
Regards,
Alan

That was an amusing little exercise. I looked under my 73 only to find a bunch of loose wires, all of which are black with grime.

A quick check of my Doc Rebuild wiring diagram and I'm pretty sure that Alan is right. They're probably the connections to the key that arms the alarm system. Let me know by PM if you'd like me to scan and email the schematic.

There is no alarm fitted and no switch in the rear panel. I`d love a proper wiring schematic, I`ve found a few but none shows these wires.
Many thanks for your inputs. Cheers. Mike

Hello,
Still not sure of the year of your car? But 73 was mentioned above. Here is a photo of the wiring diagram in the rear area of a 73. Sorry for the shadow in the pic, but you can make out all the wire colors on it.
Hope this helps,
Jim

Thanks everyone, after a good look behind the number plate area in the day light and a better torch I have found the alarm horn and traced a wire to it so mystery solved. Mike

Hi Jim, thanks for that, I am pretty sure the wires were meant for the alarm which is no longer hooked up but I did find the old horn under the left wing. Is there any chance you have a front wiring diagram to show where the wires start that you could email me.
Cheers Mike
