replacement for a 1970 quadrajet

I can repair the threads correctly. Drop me a note for info. The "rebuilt" carbs from the major parts suppliers are junk - please see my article about this.

I have had customers bring their Corvettes in AFTER they had a carburetor rebuilt...they did all they could do to it and it is still not idling correctly or the engine just seems to not be running right.
What I have found numerous times is a VACUUM LEAK....and it is in the vacuum to the headlight/wiper door or HVAC vents. SO....I unplug this hose and cap it off and sometimes.... low and behold..I can get the engine to purr and react correctly. AND THEN..when I go and try to install this vacuum hose AGAIN...the engine starts to buck, fart and puke and not run correctly.
ALSO..I have seen the outer ring on the harmonic balancer has spun and IF a person is using a timing light and trying to get to a 'number' that they feel the timing needs to be set at...they are doing absolutely NOTHING because the notch in the outer ring is not correctly positioned...so the timing light and mark are USELESS. This is why I prefer to use a vacuum gauge and NOT trust the timing light and notch to give me what I need to get it right. The timing light and and notch in the balancer is used only for information purposes.
There are other issues also that can cause for the engine not to run correctly.
