The frame is completely disassembled and ready for media blast (or so I thought) accept for what appears to be a slight bend in the RH side of the rear gas tank support. Since the gas tank and rear bumpers were removed when I got the car, I have no idea how important this is. Is it critical to straighten this out or...?
From the angles of the pictures, my guess is that It will not cause you any structure issues however it will cause issues with anything mounted to to the rear.
So, if it were me, I'd go ahead and fix it the right way. It would be a shame if during assembly you had clearance and mounting issues.
The bend really does not look that bad and you should be able to get it pretty straight.
Hi Doug,
(bs5842 posted while I was typing but we seem to agree!)
To my eye the bend seems to be of little consequence.
But, now is the time to do the repair.
Knowing it's there and not doing what's required would bother me.

Alan

I would definitely repair it . It has to be in alignment for the gas tank straps to fit. A little heat and a Porta-Power would straighten it out very easily. Besides it's a Corvette . It deserves to be fixed right. It's too bad your not close. I could probably fix that in less than an hour and you would never see it .
With a little "gentle persuasion", it's much improved. Not as straight as Alan's or 69Vette's but it'll have to do for now since it leaves tomorrow morning for media blast.
Hi 69,
Yes, you're right, but not that dent and slight twist below the cut-out for the right side tank strap.
It appears to me as though some may have tried to jack up the car there.
Can't quite tell from the photo if it's been pushed in from the rear or up from the bottom.
Odd dent in an odd location?!?

Alan

Thanks for the input fellas,

Looks like you are almost there . Just a little more push to the rear and a few hammer taps.
