I do wonder why it is so cheap,
It must be a real mess in person, some savvy builder will restore it and a few years from now it will be listed at some stupid high asking price.
The th425 terriblenado in the rear is bad, they do not handle worth a flip, but I really would not care, slap a 350 in there and have a ball...
I bet that price is a typo and they want 15K not 1500.00, I doubt that place would mess with it for 1500
I was curious so I asked and was told the price is correct.
So why is this thing so cheap....someone savvy will buy it restore it and we will see it with a high high price, oops I already said that,
1499 even as shop art is sweet
So is it really the very same car as in Steves flyer?
I recall a barris car said to be one of a kind, the computique, but there were actually two, they had been reworked several times with the name changing each time, like the finovette, as time passed it was lost which was which and a while back one was posted for sale in like this thread car basket case condition...

A psychiatrist could have a field day interviewing the person who designed that protruded-elongated front end.

It sort of seems cheap on the face of it... But it looks pretty rough like it needs EVERYTHING done, and it also looks like it wasn't really a functional car, more just a show piece. Where is the radiator, and where does it get cooling air from? How well do you think it every really worked? Can anyone taller than a dwarf sit in it? Unless you only want it as a show piece it's going to require huge reworking to make it driveable I suspect, and that's on top of all the work it obviously needs to bring it back up to scratch. Just noticed the link to the sale is gone, but google finds it and there's a lot of additional photos showing the condition.

I have been into kit cars longer than vettes well over 35 years and some are pretty weird and wild, mid engine jobs that never look like they would do things like drive and cool but they did,
I am 6 foot 2 and daily drove a Sterling kit car daily that the roofline was 38 inches off the ground,
However,
Knowing 70's customs like I do you are correct this car might have only ran enough to load and unload it if that,
The car for sale is not the same car as in that magazine spread. Very similar, though. Maybe the sale car tried to copy that one in the mag.
I agree, it's likely not the car but the dimensions, front and back, are so similar it makes it seem like there were panels available rather than a one-off fabrication.

Why is it only $1500? Because he can't sell the car at a higher price....or maybe even at this price.
"Jump on it, BATS!!!"
Well...ahem, for over 30 years I have owned this type stuff, I wish I could count how many stupid car related things I have done, bought and sold, when we moved I thought I would get a shop garage I didn't, no where to store anything much yet and even If a did pay 1500 for it and another 1500 to have it hauled home it would sit waiting for me to work on it, and I simply do not have the money or health to tackle it....perhaps I am learning...
I like it. As said, it would be difficult and expensive to bring it back, would only really be good as a show car, and probably not competitive in today's show car world.

Bats,
Good to find a fellow nutjob . I drove a Fiberfab Aztec with a turbo VW motor daily for a while. I would put money on it being the most awkward driving position of any vehicle in the last 30 years...
I also daily drove a '72 Saab Sonett (even had the original tires) as my sole car for 9 months. And a list of other '70's oddities... Some people have no taste

This would not stop me

This would slow me down... maybe make me think twice, but ultimately would not stop me either.
Am I hopeless?

No, I guess it wouldn't, you have more money than me and a shop plus built in helpers makes a huge difference....
