Default Torque Spec for Water Temp Sender

Does anybody know the torque setting for installation of a new Water Temp sender on my '82 mounted on the left side of the block? It's the one for the gauge. I cannot find the info in my Assembly Manual or Service Manual. If you have the reference I'll look it up. All the service manual says is to not gunk up the threads and foul the ground connection. If you have the ECU water temp sensor torque spec I'll take that too. I'm really not lazy, just tired of looking. Thanks,
-Chris

I would think 20 foot-pounds or so would tighten it. You don't want to put any teflon tape on the threads, as the threads provide the electrical ground connection to the engine block. You could put some plumber's thread compound on them to assure a good seal. These are pipe threads, so they should only be tightened enough to seal well.

And IF you use a thread sealant....you want to take your ohmeter and check it by touching the hex head portion of the sender and then the intake and make sure they close to 0.00 ohms. That way you know the sender is NOT loosing any ground.
