Insurance claim.
Hit a deer early last June two days before I was getting the front suspension done . Call insurance and as I take the car for the suspension ( on a Tuesday and the shop gives me a estimate )the adjuster meets at the shop ( Thursday). Was amazed how fast I got the check to fix it about a week. The shop had the fix at 3000 with a replacement headlamp assembly from Ecklers . Insurance says no they can get a good one from a junk yard . Shop cant do work for a month so alls good . First assembly 350 dollars the frame is broke yards says just JB it my shop says no . Second yard 375 dollars pictures look real good they ship out unit freight company destroys it . now end of july . Third yard says they have it covered 475 dollars show picture unit comes in almost all apart rusted , corroded and binding this was August 24 . Send pictures to adjuster finally he says just order one from Ecklers they will cover difference . Now I have to wait again to see what happens . Will be around 2 months plus to get it done . I am at the point that when I drive the car away I finally might believe its over . Just kind of venting .
I feel for you brother...when dealing with insurance, it seems you never come out on top. Keep your chin up, and maybe you can enjoy a nice fall drive...
Was it broken or missing-in-action? If broken, it's aluminum and can be heli-arc'd back in place. Any decent welder could fix it to work fine, if the pieces were there.
Hence my concern about the repair shop that doesn't understand that (or intends to "soak" you for as much as they can).
I the part is irrepairable, there are salvage yads in AZ and other western areas with plenty of headlamp buckets available. They can ship overnight FedEx, if necessary. Personally, I wouldn't put up with the B.S. you've been given by repair shop or insurance agent.

I saw the lights when they came in . All bad not what I wanted . Not costing me anything but time without the car . Any extra costs have to be summited to the adjuster to pay the shop and so far they have agreed on it . So far I think he has gone out of his way with the work he's done on the car for what he's getting in insurance money . He has removed all the older bondo that was on the car that I didn't know about and has set the hood gaps and aligned all the lines in the body on front half of car to the glass nose piece . Bad part is its going to look like two cars . With the back from behind the doors needing work to catch up with the front . The new light assembly is suppose to be on the way . Hope this one works out .
New headlamp assembly on the way should be here tomorrow and car should be done next week. Got a call from insurance company , they changed the person doing the claim and he said he would get it all wrapped up . Time will tell .
