Default Your preference over your Corvette ?

This question is for you people that really love your corvette and not particularly the ones that just use it as a driver . Is there one particular car that has always spiked your interest to the point that you might trade your beloved Corvette for that perfect car ? I'm like a lot of you that can't imagine giving up my perfect car that I have put many hours of sweat and tears into doing a complete restoration but the one car that I have been seeking for years is a 1966 Olds 442 Convertible with a factory 4 speed . Triple black completely restored or rust free original . I know , it's just a dream to find the right car but we can dream can't we ? What's yours ?

My preference lies in the traditional Hot Rods, and Kustoms..as much as I like my Corvette it would be the first to go over my '39 Ford Deluxe coupe, and my '40 Ford p/u.

Cars I don't currently own, but would sell my Corvette for would be:
1955 Nomad
1965 Buick Riviera GS
1934 Ford Coupe
1970 Boss Mustang
Any woodie up to 1940
1949-51 Mercury lead sled
etc.

I've always like the '62 409 Impala.
Red on red with a white top.
Oh and a 4speed of course!

The chance for a 56 or 57 Corvette would do it for me.

Pretty much any Porsche 930 (air-cooled 911 Turbo). Wicked cars.

I'd have a hard time getting rid of my Corvette, though. Just too much effort and love put into that car. And it's so gosh darn simple and cheap to work on.

But I just ogle when I see one of those old Turbo's drive by. Of course, he's usually ogling at me right back...

You say that it would be hard for you to part with your corvette. That's the point of this topic . What special car would it take , not just a car that you casually like ? There is only one car for me. Probably doesn't exist .

A 59 or 60 Impala two door.

I started out looking for one of those before I bought my Corvette but decent cars were out of my 18k budget (I had set aside another 10k for repairs, etc.). A few years after I bought my Corvette I started seeing reasonably priced 59 and 60 Impalas and figured I just didn't look hard enough the first time around. I told my husband I was going to sell my Corvette and buy a 59 or 60 Impala. That didn't go over well with him and after a bit of arguing we agreed I'd keep the Corvette and he'd stop opposing my plans to make big changes to it.

Well, darn. I'd HAVE to give up my Corvette?

If my wife walked up to me right now and gave me $100k to built a no-holds-barred Superlight SLC, but stipulated that I'd have to get rid of my Corvette first, I don't know if I could do it.

If someone walked up and wanted to trade me, straight up, for an early vintage 930, I don't know if I could do it.

Smart money would obviously make the trade in either case. But I truly believe that I would be kicking myself in the butt in 20 years for giving up my 1970 Corvette...

Given that the given two scenarios are as unlikely as me growing an arm out of my chest, I guess I'd have to politely decline your "any other car" question.

I believe I can say with confidence that I currently own my absolutely perfect dream car. I would not mind adding ANOTHER dream car to my stable, but I don't believe I could give up my Corvette for it.

That is a very satisfying statement to make...thank you for the therapy session.

If I had to trade in my split window and '69 and agree never to buy another Corvette again, I'd do it towards a 66-73 Lamborghini Miura, P400, P400S or SV, any color (prefer green or orange), in stock, decent running condition.

In a millesecond.

wow! Steve we agree again. I was thinking the same. Blue.

Actually I could trade my new 69 for a number of reasonable cars - although it's too new to me to do so. My '64 would take something VERY exotic and unrealistic.

Yeah, me too. I love my 69, but Id sell/trade it toward lots of cars. I actually almost made a deal for it towards a Pantera recently.

To me the crux of this exercise is giving up your "dream" Corvette (in this case, my SWC) never to return again.

I'd make that trade too. What made you decide not to go through with it?

Havent had a vette in yrs been playing with an older car Ive had forever.
If I HAD to have one special car it would be another 67 rs. Not too nice just presentable with some power and daily drive it everywhere.

The additional $60k+ was just too much.

I would think that giving up a split window would involve a lot of kicking and screaming and later a lot of regrets . Probably not a good idea to ever even consider that one. Or the triple black 69 for that matter . Two beautiful cars .

I found a '71 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 440 6-Pack in it for $2,500 (obviously needed restoring) that I was very close to selling my Vette for and it would have happened if the car didnt sell out from under me haha, love the look of the 71-72 roadrunner and of course i'm gonna love the power of a 440 6-pack...

In terms of looks the 68-79 Corvettes will sit right on top of the list of all cars for me but just wish my 78' had some more power so once I throw a crate 383 420hp i'm sure i'll have my dream car haha

BJ1K,
Back in 1966 I had a new 4 speed 442, kept it until 1970 and then traded it for a new 1970, 442.
I would give up my 1981 corvette now for either one of those cars.
