BJ1K,
Back in 1966 I had a new 4 speed 442, kept it until 1970 and then traded it for a new 1970, 442.
I would give up my 1981 corvette now for either one of those cars.
Always loved the style and performance of the 66 in particular and that was the year that I graduated from high school and wasn't in the position to buy one but the 70 was a great car too. My wife' s uncle bought a brand new 1970 Cutlass coupe , paid cash and didn't insure it . The car had 85 miles on the odometer when he ran over a large tree stump ripping the frame out underneath . He had me replace the frame and I got to drive the car a little . Loved how smooth those cutlass's were .As you know the 442's were a Cutlass hot rod.
I am going with a 49 Murc, 50 Ford, 56 Chevy Ragtop or a 57 Chevy.
You would love the two projects that I'm working on now for a past customer of mine . I closed my restoration shop three years ago and retired but still work for a good customer who is a car collector . He is going to turn 80 in the spring and wants to complete some of his special cars . They include a red 57 Chevy convertible that I replaced all of the floors from the firewall to the trunk floor and a 56 Chevy that started out as a two door hardtop and he had me convert it to a convertible . He is a positive thinker and hopes to be driving both of them by spring. Still a long way to go.
There are a few cars I like, Tri-Five Chevys (55-57), the thing they will be tight in my garage. 66-67 big block Chevelle SS. I also like 68-71 Nova's, they make great sleepers. Or Love 67-69 Camaro's.... How about a nice 70-71 Cuda's. But if I had to pick one, it will be a 69' Camaro RS/SS Big Block..
Sorry. Tantalizing question. But, when you have your life-long dream car, your wife knows this and would divert your mind from the entire topic if you strayed. The right Corvette becomes a mechanical family member warts & all; and, well, it stays through thick and thin. Especially when it's so damn beautiful even just sitting in the garage covered!
The "Blue Maxi" a '69 Camaro project car that Car and Driver built powered by a LT1 which is a live and well appearing at local shows in North Jersey like the Class Glass show in Paramus.
This question is for you people that really love your corvette and not particularly the ones that just use it as a driver . Is there one particular car that has always spiked your interest to the point that you might trade your beloved Corvette for that perfect car ? I know , it's just a dream to find the right car but we can dream can't we ? What's yours ?
I'd let the C3 go to make room in the garage for a C7.
ONE is not enough. I don't think there is such a thing as the ONE car we would most like to have. I really enjoy my '71 coupe. But, sometimes, a "cruiser" is more to my liking...so the '65 Pontiac Grand Prix it is.
If I could afford it, I'd have at least 8 or 10 different cars...each of which would be BEST on the day that I felt most like driving IT.
Honestly can't think of a car I'd rather own than a Corvette. Nothing mentioned so far, with all due respect, would entice me away from my Corvettes. Somehow Chevy hit a nerve with this car, all models.
I often think I'll just take a quickie drive in one of mine, and 90 minutes later I'm pulling back into the driveway.
It would be nice if more things in life brought the kind of joy these cars bring. Corvette (all models) has the right mix of aesthetics, power, performance, feel, and just enough exclusivity for each one to be unique.
I think this is why people get so emotional about things like Camaroy tail lights, or flip up headlights being taken away. On any other car, who'd care. But with Corvette, these things matter.
Something with a backseat. I want to enjoy the car with the entire family.
With that, I was raised on vettes, chevelles and camaros, so I'd say a 70 chevelle SS (ls-6, I guess) 69 z-28, or a 69 pace car with the decals in the box.
Unfortunately my car's more in the 2010 camaro price range than the 67-69.
