Here is my solution to working on the car.

Race Ramps. If I need to remove a tire then I use a stand at the one tire location.

If you are doing a complete front end or rear end. I still used the ramps for at least 2 wheels.

With that Quickjack BL , does everything rely on the hydraulics, or is it mechanically secured in the final position ?

A very nice set of jack stands. They look very sturdy and stable. Not inexpensive, but then what is a life worth.

An interesting side story related to the subject. A neighbor in Hawaii had his 80 year old Mother living with the family and we happened to be talking one day about how frail we all become with age. He then told me how as a teenager he was working under his (full size) car when it fell on him, pinning him so that he could barely breath. His (all of about 5'2" but much younger) mother came out of the house and found him gasping for air. He said she backed up to the bumper and lifted it enough that he was able to squirm out from under it. I know we've all heard these stories, but I had never actually met someone who was involved in one. I never saw her the same way after that.

I don't know if cinder blocks were involved...

Good luck and be safe out there... GUSTO

If you are using this type of jack stand[Its what I use] mark them with paint or a marker so that all of them are the same height.

All the Quickjacks have a mechanical arm that locks them in place. You can actually remove the hydraulic hoses at the quick connects once you have pressure on the lock arms.

Hi EG,
There are 2 height 'locations' for the safety arms… about 4" difference on the 5000….16" or 20".
Regards,
Alan

That said...The ones in the front are set higher than the rear.....It will also depend on how level your floor is....It's very important to make sure each stand has plenty of weight on it....These frames are very stiff.
