Can someone please just confirm that the fitting with the arrow in the attached picture is the correct low pressure one for charging my AC (the attached hose goes back to firewall rather than front to condensor)?
Also, does my 69 AC system have a sight glass, and if so exactly where?
Thanks
Hi David,
I believe 68-69 a/c systems have a 'sight glass' located on the top of the drier mounted on the passenger's side of the core-support.
It is sometimes covered with a black plastic plug.

Alan
Hi David,
One is the high pressure side and the other is the low pressure side (you already know that) but I don't know which is which!!!!
Too Dumb! Sorry!

Alan

The line from the firewall to the compressor is the suction side or "low side", while the line from the compressor to the condenser is the pressure side or "high side". When charging while the ac system is in operation, one only adds gas to the suction side.
OK, thanks to both of you. I think the arrow in my picture is the correct low pressure fitting. Saluda, NC. Have lived here 30 years and that is a new one to me.

Saluda, NC is a small mountain town on I-26, 30 min north of Spartanburg and Greenville, SC and 30 min south of Ashville, NC. It's a lot like the fictional town of Mayberry, NC. About 2300 ft elevation.
