This is why some people just suck.
I parked completely away from any nearby cars, didn't park taking two spots. Even. Though I'm not clearly between the lines evenly. But I come back out to find this............
Didn't hit anything except my blood pressure boiling point.
Either a hater or a moron or could have been a combo Another example of why i hate taking my eyes off mine when I'm out and about. And mines only a 20 footer, not nearly as clean as yours. Keep Rockin!

Your lucky nothing was damaged. A number of years ago my wife parked her 1979 in the back of a parking lot at work, to keep the doors from being dinged by other cars. She returned to find a large rock was thrown thru the windhield. The rock bounced off the hood and gouged the hood on the way in. The rock landed on the drivers seat along with glass pieces that became imbedded in the leather, from the force of the rock.
It's usually people that don't respect their own possessions so they surely don't respect yours . I recently was sitting in my car waiting for my wife to come out of the store and a young woman pulled in front of me and parked beside another vehicle . She was driving a new Dodge diesel 4 door pickup and had an infant in a car seat in the back so while she was getting the infant out the other child ( around 5 ) got out of the other rear door and threw the door against the other vehicle . The mother said nothing , even about damaging their own vehicle . Didn't even look at the other vehicle.
One of the things we learned about owning a nice vintage/impractical sports car after owning and driving trucks and cars no one was envious of for 50 years (5 children)is ya think about where, when and how long you are gonna park and leave it....
Even in a well lit patrolled parking area..I will put the WALL cover on it at night..Helps keep bird droppings etc off the car and also provides a degree of protection from minor bumps by passerbys etc. I DON'T take the '78 to Target, Walmart..or shopping centers..NO room for anything larger than a pair of shoes in the cargo area anyhow...
I am also one of those folks who gather up stray shopping carts in the parking lots..and take them back to the store on my way in..OFTEN wind and the gradient of a parking lot will send a stray cart moving along where it can cause damage..GLAD your car wasn't damaged. I am continually amazed how poorly some folks drive and park..Jim
I have never been that guy that parks in the back, out in the open. In my mind, that creates part of the problem. People see the separation and adds to the stigma. I believe it also makes it very easy to see and recognize the car, and it takes you out past a point where building security is effective. I myself usually just part my cars up front in the first available spot like anyone else in their modern daily driver. I find my car stands out a lot less and because there are so many other people going to and from those closer spots there is a stigma that everyone sees what you do. I notice there is also not room for cart accidents because the spots are always full and attendants typically collect the carts from the front more frequently.
Yea we all hitech up in here Bazza. . Food for thought Mr.Riles. But i got the top down mostly and i know ill find someone tossed half a 🍔 in there some day. Paranoia reigns supreme!! Atleast in my mind.
Not that I endorse it or do it....i ahve better thing to do with my time.......but I do know many people who when they see a car taking up two parking spaces...regardless if there are hundreds around the car that are available..they will go out of their way to do just what you came back to your car and found.
That looks like a warning..."If I wanted to, I could have..."I agree with previous post that by trying to keep it safe, you are just making a bigger target out of it. Too bad there are people jealous of others who take care of their stuff.

But the OP isn't taking two spaces. He's in one space, just not perfectly centered.
I don't believe we took 2 spaces, just not centered at all. I usually will park in a corner, and never had a problem to date. I think this was just a customer who was lazy. But still a jerk. I agree people don't give a crap at all. They fling doors open and never think twice. And I just noticed we weren't even near target lol.
Maybe the cart was just trying to get a closer look. And that's a fine looking 'vette, may I say.
This past summer I was in my daily driver just after getting onto a highway from freeway off ramp where a Dollar General store is on a hillside. Sloping entrance/exit. Saw something moving toward the highway to the right of me and ahead a little, it was a yellow shopping cart careening down from the parking lot. It slowed as it crossed in front of my car, where I had stopped to avoid it. I was about to jump out and catch it but a truck was coming alongside in the left lane and almost ran into it. The cart kept moving slowly across and turned downhill toward the freeway, yet stayed exactly in the middle of the highway where it divided before the overpass bridge. Must have rolled 1/8 mile and I never saw where it ended up.
One shopping center I frequent has a sloping parking lot, but it's a very mild grade. One day, I saw a shopping cart rolling down the hill, picking up speed, and it crashed into a parked car. I always make sure to park on the high side!
I live very near Bowling Green. I can remember back in the 80's and early 90's when people would stop traffic to let a line of Corvette's go. In todays world they will cut you off in a heart beat and give you the finger while doing it! Today's world!
My wife and I always park away from other vehicles. Normally only nicer cars will park out there with us. But I never take the corvette to run errands. We do what we can to try and keep our cars nice. Cant control the morons though.
Went to pick up my son from school today and parked the Vette in the carpark about 100 metres away from the school. Locked the car and walked in, got my son and came out to find 2 little girls throwing rocks at each other right beside my car. I told them don't throw rocks beside this car. Never again.
