Other than fit how can one tell an original 68 to 72 spoiler from a repo? Does an original have a part number molded in ?

I believe that nearly all molded plastic parts have their OEM part number molded into them.

correct 7T1Vette.
Mine has a yellow GM part # stenciled on the reverse side.

Hi 62,
Original air dams used in production didn't have part numbers on them.
Service Replacement dams have a part number stamped into the rear side, typically near the right end.
The Reproduction dams are poorly shaped at their right and left ends so that their curve doesn't match the curve in the fiberglass valance.
Regards,
Alan

Original production fit.

Reproduction dam fit.

I have a GM NOS front air dam - will have to check if the # is on the backside - I can't remember if there was a number.
