I am looking for a template for the C-O-R-V-E-T-T-E letters located on the rear tail of a 68-73 Vette. I have heard of horror stories from some trying to get these correctly spaced and level. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There are factory-original letters; there are aftermarket letters. I would put no stock in the pins being located exactly the same on them.
If I were doing that, I would make my own template out of some thin posterboard, lay out the letters so they visually align properly, mark where the pin holes should be, drill/cut those holes, then press them in and check again. If they look good, you have your template.
If your holes got fill in during a paint or repair, there still there, just need to be cleaned out.
If you have access to the back of your car, you can look up from inside and see them. Use a tiny drill bit to slowly make the holes go all the way through, then use a slighlty bigger bit from the outside to clean out the holes. On my 68, I had to do this when I got the car back from the body shop.
