Hi folks. After dealing with a very poor quality fiberglass 1975 style bumper cover and the body work needed to make it acceptable for use, I looked for another option, and man did I find one. I'd seen the rear bumper conversion (edit) with other posters from this site and decided to purchase the tail section for now (front to come later).
And while I don't want to turn this thread into an advertising thread let me just say (promotion removed) This gives my Vette a whole new vibe and I love it.

Looks like a really nice fit.
What are the actual left and right bumpers made of, and are they durable enough to withstand parking lot encounters from careless people.
I like the look but then I am prejudice as I have a bumper car (68)
Your wheels look great as well.

The bumpers are fiberglass and really are for appearances. Some guys are leaving them off completely.
Compromises have to be made because it is a bolt on part. Yes they are a bit lower as to follow the body line but I fully accept that and to me , it's a vast improvement over the wavy pile of junk '75 fiberglass tail that I had previously purchased through another supplier.
I don't get how it's a chrome bumper conversion if the bumpers are painted and not chrome . After all isn't it the chrome look that you are after ?
The thread is titled that way because its easier to put in "Chrome bumper conversion" than " A rear bumper conversion that mimics the '73 and earlier Vette tail section except the bumpers are fiberglass" Seriously though, I wanted the essence of the chrome bumper tails, but ultimately the bumpers will be painted the same gray as the wheel centers. There is the option of a chrome wrap applied to the bumpers as well.
"Looks great-
My only thoughts are the bumpers don't match the body lines- looks a little low-"
I agree with the above.
IMHO your car would look much better without the "bumpers". Visually, they just don't make it, and anyway they aren't necessary on your otherwise very clean resto-mod looking '75.
Without them cluttering up the overall look, you'd really have something there...

I went back and forth on whether or not to use the bumpers as the damage to the fascia is very minimal (two small holes on each side) with mounting them, but in the end, as I walked around the car, I personally liked the way the bumpers looked especially from the front 3/4 view, when you can just see them tight against the body
Even though the bumpers do mount lower on the body line due to the "bolt on" aspect of the tail only Corvette guys will notice. (he) made some allowances in the design so it truly was a bolt on piece (to be expected), but I think he nailed the look. I am super happy with the result...and no slinging 'glass.

Don't forget to share pictures of front end when you do it.
Thanks. I will do the front conversion this winter, but for this summer the only plans are to either blend the paint or I might color match the white of the gel coat and lay down a set of Baldwin/Motion stripes for kicks. If I do the latter, the bumpers may come off...for a while.

Reminds me of the Z07 police:"There is no Corvette Z07. It's a Z06 with the Z07 option".
there is so many things you can rap them in. I was going to do carbon fiber stripes on a car. here are some of the different colors you can get so if you rap them there is so much to pick from.
