Default Is this too much rust?

It looks like someone took a can of spray paint to it, but you can kind of get the gist. Is this too much?

As member Alan says "There is no practical reason to purchase a Corvette that has known rust concerns"

Agreed. Trying to figure out if this is a rust concern. My 10 year old Tundra has some rust on it, but it's nothing to worry about.

Ten years and 40 years make a big difference! Pull the kick panels and windshield trim and go from there

Need pictures of the parts that create concern.

You last car showed the windshield frame was BAD.

Did you take these pics or were they just sent to you....? What I'm seeing looks like just surface rust to me...But someone did a hack job with a few cans of black spray paint.

What I see in those pics does not look bad at all. Just surface rust/scale from being driven outside over the past 30+yrs.

However there are no pics of the important areas. The #3 and #4 body mount areas of the frame, the rear frame kick ups/trailing arm mounts, the inner body mounts/bird cage, and the windshield frame.

Hi H,
I'm often suspicious of a car that is for sale and has had a 'chassis restoration' that consisted of a spray can of black paint.
That IMPLIES that the seller hopes the buyer is both naive and stupid….. and will be impressed with that.
I don't see any serious rust in the photos, but they don't show where the rust typically becomes a problem on 68+ frames.
What's the rest of this car look like?
Regards,
Alan

Here is the link. I've asked for more pictures from the seller.

Is this the "no title" car you posted about?

Yes, me too, but it's strange that he is highlighting it as part of the sale. Usually if a seller has something to hide, they don't include the pictures. This guy put it on a lift to show it off! haha

No, that was the black one with the bad rust. I'm still on the hunt.

I don't see anything too worrisome in those frame pictures, but I hate hate hate when people take a can of rustoleum to an undercarriage like that. Better to leave it as is unless doing a full restoration.

Nevertheless, hope you get the pictures of the important areas. If you don't, I'd pass on this one especially for that kind of money.

I agree, spay can never looks great, but its better than nothing at all and just allowing the rust to continue to eat away. I took a wire brush and did what i could by hand and then took POR 15 to it and hand painted anything and everything I could possibly reach. It obviously isnt going to look like a frame off media blasted frame, but atleast it will prevent it from getting worse. Just my .02. Just make sure the "major" rust issue areas are solid otherwise the rustoleum paint wont be an issue, you will be doing a frame off restoration to repair the damage and you can get it done pretty at that point.
