Default vent control pictures

Images of vent control disassembly (1968), perhaps will be helpful for someone else rebuilding their vent control unit.

Appears that some of our parts were broken, why our L thumb roller was malfunctioning.

Plan to order rebuild kit from Wilcox. Will update as we rebuild.

Hi c1n,
Nice photos of it coming apart!!
That one looks like it's had a couple Cokes splashed over it in the last 49 years!!!
Regards,
Alan

Here is a pdf of how to rebuild the unit. If you get the control assembly or if you decide to fix the one you have.. I've got plenty of the small parts for the control. https://willcoxcorvette.com/catalogs...c_part_year=18

I might add...that I have run into issues with these kits. Not often...but I have.

The issue that I have run into is how the cord that moves the indicator needle. The cord will either come off due to the indicator needle breaking. Or the cord slides easily though the caging area of the indicator needle. ...thus causing the needle to now be 'out of time' with the roller wheel and other components.

What I do it put a small dab of crazy glue where the cord is caged into the indicator.

Would I have to disassemble to do that?

Default Glue

I took a picture using a large magnifying glass. I put the rollers all the way to HOT and DE ICE to see where I think you are referring to.

Could you tie a knot in the string and then clip the indicator onto the cord? Lou.

The Wilcox kit I received already had the string and pullies in place. In my case, not enough string to cut and tie.
