Hi to all,
I've a question regarding side turning lights.
I've got a 1973 small block Corvette. I notice that my car has side turning lights never seen in other vette (even younger, from 1968 or older to 1982).
My car also have extra reverse lights.
Can anyone tell me if it was an option o r what else?
Thank you!
See pictures attached
They are (were?) required in many European countries. I've seen some creative ways to add them in a way that they pass inspection and then can be removed without leaving any holes. They were not checked at the annual inspection, only the initial registration inspection after import.
Also, if you did a "private import", meaning you lived in the US and brought the car with you when you moved to Europe, you got a waiver for these rules which is why not all US cars in Europe have them.
I doubt that those were approved for export by GM. There were already side lights built into the car. They just had to be wired to the turn signal system. I don't know for sure, but I'm betting that GM just had a vendor rewire the existing lights to do what was needed for export.
What, are my posts invisible? Some have to repeat what I said?
Sometimes When a vehicle (let's say from anywhere) is exported or imported to a different governing jurisdiction, that vehicle may become "non conforming" usually due to public safety laws.
Many safety requirements are addressed and corrected by a delivering agent/broker or dealer representing the manufacture. In some countries the receiving party has a limited amount of time to make appropriate adjustments or file for a waiver.
France has some of the toughest vehicle lighting requirements and all changes must be made before any new import. There is much more on this subject however this should enough to put the question to bed.
To say the truth... they work well.
Above all in reverse gear. You see where are you going in the dark.
The car, as i said, is in Italy since 2008. Don't know where she was before. Sold in California, according to CLC engine code, but no other informations.
And yes, The13Bats, i say they are "euro thing" ;-)
They made my Vette a sort of "unique" model... in a some strange way...

I missed where you said the car was in Italy, cool points added.
Just because a purist might not like them no way would I remove them, it does add a special touch to your car, I'm jealous,
I wish my car spent time overseas, its just cool,
