Going Hardtop
Found this very hardtop in the CF parts section of the forum and just had to buy it! An all original Rally red hardtop with all the hardware, chrome, inner liner.
Took a little adjusting but it fits really good and the color is so close it is very hard to tell it is a half shade darker. I think it made it look more "Luxurious"
Can anybody verify the date code with the numbers provided please?
Date code?
Inside head liner

Hi m,
I believe all those digits have to do with the mold the fiberglass parts were made in.
Perhaps there's a date code etched on the rear window that will indicate when the glass was produced and about when the top was made.
The mount centered below the rear window is an indication that it late 69 model year or newer top.
Regards,
Alan

Great looking hardtop!
I don't know about the codes you posted, but you'll find dates stamped on the inside of the headliner similar to your door panels. Also, check the glass for a date code. My rear glass is CV, November 1969.

Also if you pull the headliner, often the final inspection date was hand written. Also, as others mentioned, the code on the glass if original. Looks great!

Nice find. Just thought I would pass along some info that applies to C2s, not sure about the C3s. On the C2 there are 4 holes on the deck lid, 2 for the vert top and 2 for the hardtop. For the first 5 years I had my 67, I didn't know what to do with the 2 hardtop holes when I had the vert top on. Found some misc bolts and put them in. Didn't look nice but they functioned. Then one day I was moving the hardtop and I realized that the 2 STUDS sticking out of the bottom under the window, were actually designed to slide out of the stainless frame they were in and then could be put into the decklid when needed. Nice smooth tops on them and it finally looked like it was supposed to. I am Not sure about the C3 but most of you probably already know about this little FYI. For everyone else, don't drive around for 5 years with Home Depot bolts in your deck lids!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm stuck with the kids now but I will look at the inner liner and snap a picture of the glass markings but it is really faded.
I got lucky guys. It was posted and I was the first to respond

It doesnt really matter, but I believe the top is not from a 1968.
1968's did not have the chrome tips on the end, although it was a dealer add on and is listed as a retrofit in Chevrolet Service News.
1968's did not have the rear center chrome bolt down bracket that is shown in your pic of the top upside down.
1968's had "slots" not "holes for the rear trim panel bolts to attach the lower window trim panel under the window.
STILL, it looks great on your car. I have mine on my Rally red 68 too. (although it so much more difficult to get in and out than with the top off!)
