Hi 540,
There's no dimension given in the AIM because there was a small 'kite shaped tab' welded to the top of the pipe coming out of the muffler.
The tip was slid on the pipe until it 'seated' on the tab.
That's why the tips have that odd shaped cut-out in the top of their pipe.
