Guys,
I have a issue with my passenger side headlight door (75 coupe). It doesn't go up high enough to remove the painted bezel and thus I can't remove the 2 headlights. It's about 1/4" lower than the drivers side door in the up position. It sits in its opening ok and it is good when closed. It just doesn't go up high enough.
I did search on the forum and read quite a few posts about adjusting the height but I'm not certain which of the adjustments will work for door height adjustment.
Do I just screw out the clevis until I get the needed height or do I loosen the 2 screws that hold the bracket (item 1 page 381 assy. manual) and move it until I get the needed height? Or is there another method? Will that mess up the door opening location?
I removed the 2 springs and pin through the rod clevis while the cover was down. I then pushed up the cover and checked the height. It seems to be the same as it was. It didn't change anything. The the stop on the outer side of the headlight is in the same place also.
The headlight does snap into place. Just not in the right place?
Here's some pictures. There isn't any screws in the top of the bezel. That's why I'm holding it in the pictures. If you want others I can get them.
Sorry, the pics should be from below to show if the mechanism is fully extended or not. When you open the headlight does it feel as if it snaps into place when it reaches the end of travel?
Yes. When I pushed the cover up, it did snap into place when it reached the end of its travel. I'll take some photos from underneath with the clevis pin out and post.
This is the critter you need to adjust to get the headlight door to open up a little more. Headlight actuator bracket is what it is called. Just back off the bolts a couple of turns and it should move. The slots are there for any adjustment needed.

When I move this bracket will it mess with door location in the opening?

Reason: remove unnessary text
The only other suggestion that I have is to loosen the 2 front bolts of the headlight support bracket. There is one bolt on each front side of the headlight support that bolts through the bottom front bumper support. Loosen those 2 bolts and it should give you enough play to push the headlight assembly up higher. It will only be able to move up higher as much as you loosen the bolts.

In a word, No. This adjustment is just for the up and down pendulum like door motion. It has nothing to do with the left/right, forward/back etc. It would help to temporarily remove the springs, but I've done it with them still attached. You may need to re-adjust the clevis, but I doubt it.

Also keep in mind the bracket on the side of the headlgith door that has the stop bolt that is adjusted.
It needs to be removed because simply adjusting the bracket shown in the post#13 will allow the door to come up higher...but NOT if the side bracket is stopping it.
Exactly. You can see the stop bolt in the third image (or the one DUB replied to). It may be easiest to remove it, keeping the setting. That's what I did on the second headlight. No need to remove springs, or adjust brackets, at least in my case, but that bolt had to come out. I removed the turn signal grille to get better access.
EDIT: Nevermind. This didn't work for the OP. I should have read the thread more carefully.
