Air Breather Assembly
I assumed it was a semi-gloss black but I was told it was a gloss black
which is the correct paint color?
Thanks
During the 68-72 model years the bases of both open and closed air cleaners were painted with gloss black.
There was no primer used and the paint was quickly and sparingly applied... so typically didn''t have a terrific gloss.
From the photos I see I believe the use of gloss black continued.

Alan
Here's an example of the gloss on the air cleaner base from a 72 car.

Do what you want, but it will only look right if it is semi-gloss black.
{NCRS folks can ignore my comments. I have no idea what your 'book' says is correct.}
P.S. I bought a barely-used '68 car in the early 1970's from the original owner; and the air cleaner was NOT gloss black. My un-restored (at the time) '71 car has a semi-gloss air cleaner with the original sticker still on the side. The paint was 40 years old at the time, so it certainly did not look like 'new'. But the sheen on that air cleaner was exactly the same as the other semi-gloss black parts in the engine compartment.
