Play on gas pedal normal?
I own a '69 Vette, with original 4-speed manual. The clutch and brake pedal are tight, but the gas pedal is looser and the pedal itself can actually tilt back and forth (think towards the firewall and back down to the floor in a rocking motion). Just wanted to check if this is normal, or if I need to start exploring how to tighten up the gas pedal?

There shouldn't be significant 'slack' in the action of the accelerator pedal. It could need some adjustment, or the connection between the cable and the pedal linkage could be damaged in some manner.

Hi J,
The gas pedal itself is free to pivot (tilt back and forth) on the pin that attaches it to the lever.
There's a spring that mounts on the pin to stop the pedal from flopping around.
Is the spring missing on yours?
Regards,
Alan
This is not a 69 gas pedal but does show the pedal, pin, and spring.

Amazing coincidence I just played with the gas pedal to keep it from flopping around I thought I was missing something, it seemed to simple I am missing the spring. added to the next order list!!
A vendor advertises a " brake pedal spring bushing" I don't see it in the Willcox page. Any thoughts? Ike

Hi gi,
Are you asking about the accelerator pedal spring?
If so look at ZIP SPR-114.

Sorry for the confusion Alan and JCNST1, not trying to hijack your thread so I hope we are both looking for the same thing. I found the spring and the pin and the pedal I have but the vendor also talks about nylon " brake pedal spring bushing" bushing of some kind. Not sure what its for or purpose and I cannot find it in the AIM manual. I was just wondering if anyone knew what they were referring to. Ike
