Default 1982 Damage

Good Day - looking for best way to repair these without taking front bumper off and buying a new one. The entire bumper is mint except for this which happened today, coming off ramps. All options especially fixing it myself would be appreciated. Thank you

From what the crack looks like I have to assume that the bumper is fiberglass??? I need to know before I get into this.

Also..are you repairing it??

And have the tools to do it from start to finish??

Have you done body repair before??? Need to know so if I give you a method of repair...I know how to type it out so you understand what I am saying.

If you decide to not fix it I have an 1980 flex bumper that I need to sell.

I'm sorry I can't help you with the damaged bumper.

However, to prevent this in the future, you may want longer ramps. When I don't put the car up on the Qwik-Lift, I use 2-part 56" Race Ramps for quick fixes. They make even longer ones, too. The site will show you how to measure the approach angle and determine which size you need. 56" worked for my 80 (shown with the 79).

I have an 1982 also and have had damage to my front end numerous times. The best solution is to take it to an experienced body shop and have them repair it. You do not need to take off the front bumper. All you need to do is have him repair it and then blend with paint the repaired area into enough of the surrounding good paint. I have had my auto body guy due it numerous times and it came out great!!! The secret is to get a hold of an experienced auto body shop who will work with you. Good Luck

Taking a closer look at your photo. It may be urethane .

This is a very do-able repair for an experienced body man/painter. Gosh knows I have repaired many that look like this in the past.

As previously mentioned. IF you are not going to fix it yourself. I hope you find a shop that is willing to do it RIGHT.

I had the bumper repaired by a reputable body shop and paint blended in. Came out great. Thank you all for the tips.

If you are on a budget, you can use your regular ramps, go buy a 8' 2x8, cut it in half and use that to change your getting up and down the ramps. Been using mine for many years for both my c3 and c4 corvette.
