1973 spare tire carrier
My 1973 corvette is missing its spare tire carrier, what year range of C3 spare tire carriers would fit my 1973?
I need the entire setup

Hi;
The bottom carrier may be pretty easy to find, the plastic upper tub cover is not being reproduced at least it wasn't when I was looking three years ago. I finally found one on E-bay for $50.00 . Took awhile to find one. good luck

1979???
Hi guys, I'm a friend of RobMat's and he has been offered a carrier from a 1979 Corvette. Can anyone tell me if this is/is not a direct fit? If not, is it an easy modification to make it work? Thank you.

Check out the Wilcox site. They have an ad I found on a google search for an upper carrier tray half currently listed for $75 and it is identified to fit 68 to 1982. The add also identifies the subtle differences between years and part number progression. I'd try the 79 that is being offered to your friend. You may have some extra hole you won't need or may need to add. Ad details below and link to pictures. I'm sure Wilcox can answer your questions as well. Tim.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this , but the 68 has 2 of 7 inch bolts and the 69 onwards has 8 inch bolts.
How do I know this ? a friend of mine bought a 68 , very much a project . It had one of each bolts on his carrier
Why ?, 68 had a 7 inch rim 69 onwards was 8 inch. That's my guess anyway .

Too bad you are not based in the US. I just pulled off the entire carrier from my 72 and it will not be going back on.

Funny. I always thought the bottom piece was the harder to find. They are the ones that are always damaged from road rash. Ive been trying to find a replacement for my 69 beat up one for a few years.
