Default 1978 Red Corvette.......

Hello. I was wondering. If I wanted to touch up my red 78 Corvette, what color today would be the equivalent? Torch Red looks pretty close. Any C6 colors that would match? Thanks

Depends on where you want to get your touch up paint from and how much of it you want. You can get the exact same colour the factory put on if you want by using the car's paint code.

I buy touch up paint at this place. Always been a good match.

Original paint code for 1978 Corvette Red was #72. Try to find an area of paint that has been hidden from sunlight (ie, under the door sill) to see if the outer body paint has faded significantly. PaintScratch.com is one of the decent places to buy touch-up paint to match original factory colors.

If your car is factory # 72 lacquer paint C6 torch red is not even close.

#72 red is darker. My 78 was repainted with sikkens 359 red which is much closer to C6 Torch Red.

I would go a a automotive paint shop and have them do a computer custom match. Take the gas tank cover to use for a paint match.
