Default Duntov Motors Experience

As some of you may have read in my earlier posts, a few months back I purchased a 1978 C3 for $5K with a newly rebuilt (mild performance) engine (less than 500 miles on it). The entire front and rear suspensions, trailing arms and differential needed some "help". Most of the basic parts I was able to source through ZIP and other vendors (control arms, ball joints, rods, etc.). Once I realized I needed a differential most of the vendors I called had at least a 4 week wait. I then called Duntov Motors which only had a 2 week wait for a 3.55 differential and decided to order from them. I also had them provide me with new replacement trailing arm assemblies (complete), half shafts, etc.. Well my car has been on the lift for 5 weeks and I just received the trailing arms today. I've emailed and called Duntov many times and each time the response was the same, "the items will ship today". Actually I just got off the phone with them and they said the same thing again. It's not so much the $4,000 that I spent with them, it's more the fact that my car is taking up a bay in my mechanics garage while I await the 3 week late items from Duntov, which in retrospect I probably could have gotten faster by another vendor.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with them (Duntov Motors)?

Thank-you for your reply...

Prior to posting I performed a search with the keyword "Duntov" and had 20 + pages in C3 General. I did peruse through the first 5 pages.

Yea, not a lot of good experiences with them. Many have been less than impressed with their work as well. For stock type rear suspension parts and rebuilds, Bairs is who I would deal with.

Yeah, I neglected to perform my due diligence. My only criteria was a quick turn around from order to delivery which they promised would be 2 weeks, I'm on week 5 now. Ironically enough since my original post I had sent them an email wanting to cancel the remaining items, an hour later I received my UPS tracking information. Obviously I won't be making any more purchases from Duntov any time soon.

when I read your thread and you said you had already ordered from Duntov ,I hoped you would have better luck than I did, I ordered from them and over 6 months later the parts arrived . I have since read they are so busy …..out racing … that there's no one to send the parts back at base . Bairs is good ,apart from his web page which I have trouble working out . Ask Gary GTR1999 what he thinks of Duntov's diffs !!!

I would think that a better idea would be to take you're rear end and trailing arms to a local shop and have them do the work ,no shipping or need to have e-mails. Find you're local vette owners hangout and they will tell you where they bring there stuff.

Promised in two, at five and counting, and another cat was at six months...rut ro

I had a tech say "about a week" about nine months later it took threats of law etc to get him to release my unfinished, damaged, paid in full car...

I dont know why a lot of people in business do not give a second thought to doing this

There is nothing good to be said about Duntov Motors. Stay far away. I got burned by them.

I find new posts like this very informative and appreciate members reminding us of less than honest companies. Redvet must be very busy to have to post like that. Phil
