I`m looking at where I can install a tow hook, to the front of a 69/72 corvette. Has anyone here done this.
I’m interested to see how others have attached a tow hook.

Tow hook? Why? You gonna drag a 20k car down the street with a rope like you are a couple of teenagers with a worthless POS? And are you planning on it breaking?

I don't know about you...but we used extension cords ....rope was too expensive!!!
I'd feel a lot more comfortable w/ a tow hook when winching the car into / on a trailer!!!
I too am looking for a solution-
for the rear-
these two look like great options- one for spring other for coilovers-
And for the front-
Really like "'Ignatz" idea
However- I was going to use a removable "hook" that comes in the trunk of just about every BMW. A little longer than the aftermarket ones- so I'm hoping I can just screw it THROUGH the grill and it stays hidden when not in use.
I purchased the Van Steel hook for the rear with my coil overs set up.
Asked them about a front one and they said they might come out with something in the future.
I may never need it but it would be nice to have something if it was ever needed.

The track regulations here in Australia require a tow hook front and rear to participate.

In my case i wont have 20k in my 69 but after owning several + corvettes over the last almost 40 years and never once having a flat bed operator savvy with where to put hooks combined with the old school road racer theme im going for a tow hook or eye fits right in....
Ps, i dont plan on my cars breaking but the world is an imperfect place....**** happens.
I had a look this afternoon, it is so obvious when it’s pointed out to you.
I didn’t see these retainers as my steering oil cooler sits in that opening mounted to,the bumper bracket.
ill make this up tomorrow.
thanks again

my apologies. it does make sense for winching, tying down. and Bats, just cuz you don't have 20 in it doesn't mean it isn't worth that...
Its all good,
I would love i mean love to believe when back driving my car would fetch 20k but seeing what some change hands for im thinking mine will be 12 to 15 if i got lucky, but its moot, ill never sell this one.
Trading on a Frankenstein mid year, now thats a different story
Agreed.
I plan to box mine, add the gussets, complete all the welds on the frame rails, add a roll bar (mostly to stiffen the chassis) and many more things.
Some people build them for show, others for go and some like me want most of both worlds.
yes mate I am do you have a photo of where you mounted it to.
I have looked at that area and all the major structure is a long way back.
Meathead what did you do for a rear tow hook.
I joined southern sporting to do more track days hence fitting tow hooks
the cars been up on stand for over 9 month hoping to get back on the road next month
