Hey General Ike, Yes I got it for 15,750 today. Bringing it home Saturday. The Corvette forum really helped allot. For 15750 I can drive it around for now and when I retire in a few years maybe I will get to taking it apart and restoring it! I don’t take any of my cars to shops, I do it myself and have everything here to get it back to its former glory!
Congrats!! Enjoy! Very interesting car from your other post. Hopefully everything is good and you got it for a GREAT price!!!! How is the paint? I doubt you will be able to hold off until you retire. That was somewhat my intention but two winters working on weekends and I am 95% done. I couldn't watch it sit like that!!!!!. Good news is you can always look for another in a few years, That's what I am doing. Congrats again and welcome, as you have already seem there is a wealth of info on the forum.

Hi General, The paint looks to be not original, it’s not horrible but it needs a repaint. It’s good from 10 feet away. I have been practicing, I have a old Coronet up on a rotisserie I am getting ready to paint. I bought it a few years ago for 5500 as a starter project. Putting the engine back together now. I also have a 67 Chevelle I plan to paint in the next year or so this new one is now in line. I have a replacement frame for the Chevelle so I think I have about 5 or 6 years worth of work ahead! Maybe by the time I paint this Vette I will be good at it. I just love working on old classics!
Hey General, I plan to rebuild the suspension myself for starters. And get the original intake and valve covers on it. The owner put the MSD ignition on it, I would like to make it original. I will send pictures as I go, this is going to be fun! Thanks again for your help! Scott
Scott the MSD ignition system is a nice upgrade to the original point system. You may want to keep it but hide it under the fender to make it less visible. Especially if you plan to drive the car rather then a garage queen. Ike
That does make sense, those old points don’t last long! Thanks for the guidance, always appreciate any advice I can get. I din’t Have any help here in Virginia since my dad moved away and is no longer able to give me a hand.
old points don't last long...in a daily driver. in the seventies i would hear people cranking their car 10 seconds. pop their hood, eyeball reset their point gap, and car starts in half a second. free tune up. i doubt any of us are gonna be wearing out points in 6 months on these cars. now, if you take your car to the track, any track, you can't be losing power to point float at 6k rpm. but most of us put an occasional black stripe down in the process of weekend laps around town. and i too am glad you bought it. even happier now that i know the new owner is a chevelle forum-yellow bullet kind of guy. not just somebody that always wanted an old car with a big motor! and you already have the rotisserie!

You can buy an original tach drive and put a breaker less ignition system in it. I used the Lectric Limited setup for a couple of years before a 50 year old bushing cracked. It's a good system and let's you keep it original except for points.
Glad you stole it, I mean bought it for such a good price. When I got mine I put $2500 into making everything work, then put over 5000 miles on it that summer
That’s awesome Rogers! When I got my Chevelle it had been sitting for about 15 years. I spent a few months getting it in the road. The frame has holes in it on both sides behind the front wheels. I found dirt clogs inside the boxed lower house MP that must have held moisture. I found a good 67 frame in Pittsburg of all places, it’s sitting in by basement already blasted and coated. Scott
