I would call them and discuss color of med blue carpet for a 68. This looks like a very good deal to me but I have already spent my Corvette allowance this month (and a lot of future months too, ha!). I do need to get med blue carpet for my 68 and if their color is in the ball park of a medium blue, not dark blue, I plan to buy it. IMHO, the color would have to be off a whole lot for most people to notice.
OK, that site is one of 2 that they have. It shows an incorrect price of $230 (great deal) for my 68. A call to them finds the actual price is $285....a bit cheaper by $15-20 than other vendors, but a whopping $60 shipping Vs free is the deal breaker.

the dark blue in later years DID get darker. you have to keep in mind 68 is 1 year only colors.

post #4 in this thread you posted a pic, that is the "dark" blue for 68.

I have blue/blue car, and I have a pair of lighter blue door panels someone sold as dark. I can take pics to show the difference

Ok and some photos I have to muddy the waters some more, LOL's!

Here are some 68 original 411 dark blue seats I planned to put in my 414 68 project. Also an original 414 68 door panel out of my 68 project. Not sure what carpet to buy, ha! particularly after this post. All of this is 50 years old so who know what fading occurred. IMO, there is a definite difference between 68 411 and 68 414. Not sure I can get away with 68 411 seats in a 68 414 interior, but MAYBE no one will notice, hmmmmm….

My NCRS book is not handy but I am looking at my Corvette Black Book and it says:
1968 414 is medium blue vinyl which is my 68 414 interior I sold above.
and
1968 411 is dark blue vinyl which I am pretty sure my 68 "darker" blue seat are.

I found a Feb 68 date code on my 414 door panel but have not taken my 68 411 seats apart to look for a date code.

Nice Corvette you have and like your interior!!

Agree, confusing and 68 has some one year only things. My favorite one which I discovered the hard way is that 976 LeMans Blue is 976 for both 1968 and 1969, but actually a different shade of blue. The 68 and 69 976 LeMans blue "paint codes" are different and so a different shade of blue.

I am beginning to think your are right, the original poster's seats are 411 dark blue too, but the lightning and fading over the years plus my old eyes(ha!) I do not know for sure now, ha!

Ok here are a few pics. To avoid confusion I will go by interior code number

my car is 411 the darker blue in 68

the door panel not on is 414 the lighter blue in 68

its a bit dark in my garage but I used a color match light used for painting to show the true colors. My cars 411interior is 100% original except for the drivers door panel

Yes “dark blue” 411 is the car interior. Medium blue ( the lightest blue in 68 code 414) is the panel on the ground in first pic, bottom of second pic and laying on the left half in 3rd pic

looking at the pic you posted in post 4 I’m fairly confident that is the darker of the 2 blues in your car not the light

So, no bright blue in 68?

No there is no bright blue.

Many vendors will call 414 bright blue, because it is the brighter of the two, but it is darker than later years

edit to add. Here is the same panel out in the sunlight a few days ago. It was wet from washing it which gives it the shine.

OK, great. Helps a lot. One of many confusing things so far is that before I looked at the code, I thought, from memory that I had bright blue interior.....not knowing there were so many blues around that era, and how similar some were.

That's part of the confusion. When I recently got the car I thought it was bright blue interior, one of my favorites. Never had a doubt. That was until I saw the code on the trim tag. 414=medium blue=now what seat covers/carpet do I order?

Everyone must understand that GM color codes, their actual color and the names of that color are MODEL YEAR SPECIFIC. You may find consecutive model years having the same color, code and color name....but this is not always the case. I have seen consecutive years using the same code number but having totally different col.or and color name

You and your painter MUST research well to assure that the color code you have selected is the correct color and color name that you wish (if you want it to be an exact match for that model year).

I’ve had 7 vettes over a 12 yr period. I won awards with each of them so I have a pretty good idea what is correct.

This is my 1970 Classic White and medium blue interior

1971 Blue over Blue (interior is called Dark Blue only available for 71 and 72 Corvettes)
