Default Interior colors

I have a 1968 and the code says medium blue (414). On ebay I see medium blue for carpet. But, shopping seat covers I'm seeing bright blue or dark blue, no medium blue. Discuss. Look for more posts to further describe my dilemna on which carpet/seat cover color to order. THX

I had a 68 LeMans blue with 414 medium blue and am currently working on a 68 International blue with 414 medium blue. In 68 GM had a 411 dark blue and 414 medium blue. In my opinion, there is nothing "medium" about 68 414 "medium blue". I would call it and my friends called it a bright blue, I would say a little lighter and brighter than the color of the LeMans blue paint. I bought carpet too and some of the carpet manuf's only have the one blue, which is close enough to go together I think.

Hope this helps and one opinion.

Nice 68 Corvette and the 976/414 is one of my favorite color combinations!

THX! I have more to add to this in another post, so please provide your input to that.

So, the code says my 68 has medium blue interior. A brief ebay search shows only dk blue and bright blue seat covers available for the 68. And carpet samples from ACC shows that their bright blue (unless mis labeled) is a better match for the interior in my car. I just plan on replacing carpet and seat covers, and not sure what to order.

68 Medium Blue code 411 is the same interior color as 69-70 Bright Blue, while 414 Dark Blue is a 68 only color. The 68 medium blue/69 bright blue carpet is readily available through most Corvette vendors, while the dark blue is a little harder to find, since not all vendors seem to carry it. Instead of trying to match up the color on eBay, you would probably do better to call some of the Corvette vendors, and know you're getting the right carpet.

My 68 shows 414 for med blue, not 411.

So, looking at the pictures I posted, is it possible the code 414 is for med. blue, but in reality my car has bright blue interior?

I'm sorry, you're correct, I reversed the codes while I typing my previous post. 414 is medium blue, and 411 in dark blue.

You posted your pictures while I was typing, so I didn't see them till after posting. I see you have the left radio side panel off, does the carpet behind the side panel, match either of your swatches? You could also look at the carpet under a sill plate or seat, and see if either swatch match that carpet.

In my opinion, the lighter swatch you show, is the correct carpet for the 68 medium blue interior, but I'm curious as to what others may think.

The carpet in there looks nothing like anything from Chevy. Probly a crappy match from a cut rate interior shop.......almost looks like house carpet. The lighter sample says med. blue on the back, while the darker (bright blue) seems to match the seat and console much better. So, I'd love to see med. blue, as before I checked the code I thought I had, what memory served as bright blue!!

Oh yea, I have pulled some impressive carpet stuff out of Corvette, nasty yellow **** that was glued in was the best!

Agree and I think the lighter blue carpet sample is 414 68 bright blue (I mean 68 medium blue, ha!)

I would go with ACC who I think is a reputable Corvette supplier. They have a sale here for $230 I think which is a very good deal.

Do you have a link for that sale?

I also had an International Blue '68 with the Bright Blue interior (bright metallic appearing blue). But I believe it was called "Medium Blue". The interior in Bad 3's car appears darker than my car; but that could be a lighting and/or image issue. The lighter blue carpet patch may match what you have now; but your carpet is VERY faded from years of sun, and I'm sure the darker patch is correct for your car.

I would call them and discuss color of med blue carpet for a 68. This looks like a very good deal to me but I have already spent my Corvette allowance this month (and a lot of future months too, ha!). I do need to get med blue carpet for my 68 and if their color is in the ball park of a medium blue, not dark blue, I plan to buy it. IMHO, the color would have to be off a whole lot for most people to notice.

Here are some photos of the 68 med blue interior I had, pretty sure the carpet was original. Faded now as you can see. Sorry I sold this one, oh well.

Wow, that interior looks great....except the carpet. Surprised you left that. Your pics have me thinking the code's accurate to med blue in my car. My memory tells me bright blue, but your pics prove me wrong. Thanks for posting. The confusing thing's the carpet samples sent to me show the bright blue a better match to my seats/console/door pnls.

Now if i can figure exactly which blue to order. Did I miss how long the sale is good for? Thank you

Sorry, can't help you out, and way off topic, but this thread reminded me of philosopher David Hume's, "Missing Shade of Blue". It was a topic in an "easy A" Philosophy 101 class I took in college a hundred years ago, that I likely got a "hard C" in, thanks in large part to way too much partying!

Good luck with your decision!

If it were mine I'd got with the dark blue carpet as I think it looks better. I'd go with the light(medium) blue seat covers.
I think that would be a nice combo.
I used ACC in my 68 in 80/20 loop they are cut right and are well made.

68 is the odd ball year, medium blue is actually dark blue. blue is bright blue.

the pics you posted are dark blue. order everything in dark blue or it will not match- I have a pair of 68 bright blue door panels someone sold me as medium blue they definitely do not match

From the little searching I've done so far the dark blue appears much darker than what I have. Pretty confusing so far. I appreciate ALL the input!!
