During all that driving I came to a realization that I wasn't comfortable in all situations driving it. The car handles fine but if it rains the windows fog up.... and there's no defroster, stuff like that. I rebuilt both doors.. again, and then went and put a new heater core in the car. The car had not had heat since 1997 at least. While I was in there, I fixed all the HVAC vacuum and electrical controls and cleaned the heater box.
Next up was the radio. my stock one worked, and I put a Bluetooth module I made on it so it worked with my phone but the tuning dial just completely stopped. Instead of having my stock one rebuilt, I opted for a lookalike unit. I will someday rebuild my stock one but this is an OK solution for the time.
I also ordered a brand new upper dash pad and new speakers for it. It has yet to come in, but i'm very excited cause that is the last "broken" piece of my interior.
Ok, so, another month has passed and a bunch has happened. First, im due for an oil change. Second, I finished the interior front to back, top to bottom. I put interior insulation down, cleaned all the carpets and reassembled everything with new screws. Gone are the cracks and fading, hello day one ish perfection! Here are the pics of the insulation install. Unfortunately when I get on a roll, I forget to take pictures so I have no pictures of what the insulation looked like glued in. I will pull the car out to get better pictures of the finished product tomorrow. Hmm... reminds me of febuary

I put a new air filter on it, and did a tune up, (plug wires cap and rotor) because I am planning on a longer than usual toad trip soon.
now, if you remember, back in February I actually put a new set of wires on this car, so why am I changing them again? Well, 4 of them have melted on the exhaust flanges. Far as im concerned thats about 3 to many.

Also, figured id sneak this in here, I was tired of laying my t tops on the garage floor, so I built this cart. Simple design, works fantastic! (This was rev 1, I ended up building a box under it out of 2x4s and mounting wheels to it.)

You're doing great. What is the story with the transmission?
So my vette has a turbo 350. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I bought the transmission in the pictures I posted to swap into the car. It is a 200-4R out of a 89 caprice that was in the junkyard. I wanted a 200-4R because it is the same dimensions as a th350 it just has overdrive. Im doing the swap for two reasons. 1, I really want overdrive. 2, im changing the camshaft and rear end gear as well and by changing all three I can plan ahead and pick parts that all work together.
figured this was a good way to go about it.

So, I installed that insulation and wanted to drive the car. 20 miles away from home, the brakes went out on me. I was planning to do brakes the day after they went out, so im not sure if its terrible or fantastic timing. The PF caliper blew a seal, so like I had planned on doing I rebuilt both front calipers and put new pads in them
So, in my last post I talked about the brakes going out and such. Back in August when that happened, I put a new set of pads on the car, and rebuilt the front calipers. After driving it maybe 500 miles it was quickly made apparent to me that the car needed much more than that. I knew my rotors were junk, but I figured I’d throw a cheaper set of pads at it and address the issue in the spring because there isn’t a lot of driving season left here in the Midwest. That being said I intend to drive this car until there is salt on the ground. So what issues came up? Well one of the calipers I rebuilt was weeping again, but that wasn’t the most obvious issue. The most obvious issue was the fact that the brakes squeaked so bad you could literally hear it from blocks away. I take a lot of night classes on my college campus and I cannot have that, not to mention it’s terribly embarrassing. (the brakes shouldn’t be louder than the exhaust and paint). Last weekend I put; new ACDelco gold pads and black hat coated rotors on, I rebuilt the leaky caliper again, and I had to make a few new lines. Now the pedal feels better than it ever did. Turns out my rotors were original. Riveted on and everything.
