Help with Decision C3

I sat hear and read through all your comments. I appreciate all of your advice, I will be patient and wait for the right one and keep saving. I won't settle for an automatic and have gained experienced on what to look for. I dont even own a Vette yet and appreciate yalls support. Wish everyone a safe week, God bless.

Not yet a corvette owner
Well time has passed and after reading everyone's comments I feel a lit better about what to look for when inspecting a Vette. I did walk away from both and have a found a black C3 from the 80s. With everything going on I am having some delays but it is a black C3 needs paint and new interior but has a running 383 engine and auto trans.
I am considering it especially since it runs and is going for $3k. I dont mind if #s dont match. It's not a show car just weekend cruiser and just needs to look decent and feel clean inside. I am still not a Vette owner and some v8 trans ams and Camaro may pull me away from "the dream" but will stay patient and see what I can find.

Ray, there is a '71 LT-1 on the C3 for sale forum. Looks like a good deal at 23,500 obo. (title has $29k obo). Not sure if that's where your budget is, but a real chrome bumper LT-1 seems like a good price.

nobody looking at a 3k car has 23k to spend. Ray. 3k car needing paint. real paint jobs are 10k and take forever. Maaco jobs are 500 to 1k and take a week.

Never know.. That's where I started looking. bargain basement projects. as the spring and summer progressed I started looking less at projects and more at nicer, more expensive, drivable cars til I found something my wife really really liked in July @ 19k!
