ok so recently i saw a post on Octane Headlights. How many have used these and are they just plug and play as stated? I have read some need to upgrade the wiring and others have had to cut the buckets to get the lights to fit. what about the retainer rings fitting around the lights to the buckets,
Figured I would start a new post instead of hi- jacking the existing one.
These are the ones that I put on my 73. They were a perfect fit and didn't have to change anything.
The retaining rings fit just like the original lights that I replaced. They work high beam and low beam as they should.
It was just like replacing the seal beam ones. I am happy with them so far.
cool thank you
I ordered a set tonight so I was just looking to see if I would need to prepare for any hidden problems. Hopefully I will only be out of work for the next few months waiting for a new contract. While I have time off I hope to spend time with the Vette and doing some around the house projects.
They are plug and play depending on which p/n # you get. The ones with the narrow fans on the rear fit in place like stock. The brighter ones with the slightly larger cooling fans need about a 1/16" clearanced on the access hole behind the bucket in a '69. (Or you can disassemble the cable and feed it through). For me, it was easier to ream the hole with my Roto Tool......took about 5 minutes. My thread....https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...installed.html

Rescue- it just might.....and yeah that blight bar you have is blinding me every time I pass you. LOL
Mike6896 That's good news thank you. Mine should be here next Monday unless Rescue steals them off the porch while I'm not looking.
Well I just received the headlights and should be putting them in this week if I get time They look good and are as advertised. The lenses are glass and the whole reflector is made from metal. The LED bulbs do have a fan built into them and have a ballast resistor to I believe that is what the Square black box is. Two of the lights have all three of the wires in the plug socket and the others have a third wire disconnected but has a spot in the plug if you want to use it. I suppose this would be so all four headlights could be used at the same time for high and low beams.
You possibly could drill a hole for fiber optics but I'm not sure if it will chip the reflector on the inside from the drill going through. Here is a photo of them
I'm really interested in this. If you can post a couple of installation pics or things to watch out for that would be great.
I've read that they are take-out-old and put-in-new. Is it really that simple?
Would be nice to get rid of these old sealed beams that don't do the job anymore.
Those look like decent units with glass lenses and metal reflector housings. They look exactly like the AutoPal units I used to
make my LED halo headlights. They are probably made in the same factory in China/India/wherever!!
These are installed in my 1976 Corvette so I don't know if the earlier years (like 68) will be the same.
Ok so I installed one set of headlights and they fit as advertised as OEM. I had to do absolutely NO modifications. When I pulled them out of the box I was not sure because of the way the mounts are on the side of the lights. but the retainers fit perfect with no modifications or longer screws.
These look best to me because they look like a regular replacement light. Showing retaining ring fit on the low beam You can see my old inner high beam bulbs. Aircraft landing lights just low beams in better shot of high beam landing lights The bulb does say made in China Showing headlight protrusion from the bezel
I will get a few pictures when I get a chance. I can tell you that the lights are very bright with a definitive cut off on the beams.
The cut off must be just right because I do not get on coming drivers to flash High Beams to me.
Like all LED these are polarity sensitive so if they don't work flip the plug. The high beams have an extra wire so they can be set up to run on both High and low beam instead of just high beam.
interesting, does that mean you could run all four headlights at once in a low beam mode, then also have a high beam mode which just makes them brighter?
Sorry ive been extremely busy lately trying to get home projects done that have gone by the wayside for far too long. Hoping I can get the beam patterns this weekend.
Yes you can run all four lights at once low beam and then on high. I opted to just keep them stock.
Looking forward to the beam pattern. Especially with all 4 on low beam at the same time.
Just wondering how annoying that would be to the car in front of me.
