Default '69 Bumper Woes

The bumper on my '69 has been uneven since I bought it so I decided to try and bring up the passenger side. Unfortunately I think I've encountered some bubba engineering.

From the AIM, my understanding is that the bumper attaches to a small bracket which then attaches to another bracket inside. My car seems to be missing that small bracket and it's attached through the fibreglass. When I push the corner up it hits the fibreglass bump out and still doesn't line up properly. My question is, what can I do to correct this?

What I'm dealing with. The corner dips down really low.

The corner of the nose. Hard to see but the bumper is held in place through the fibreglass and not attached to anything else.

The other side of the grill has this bracket just flopping around. The chrome doesn't line up and there's no room to adjust.

It’s very hard to see all what’s missing. Yes, the bumper attaches to a small U shaped bracket. Then theres also the twisty pretzel bracket that connects to the front metal nose support that’s riveted to your nose. But before you can do anything properly you need to buy and install all the missing brackets. The small U shaped bracket will attach to a long frame extension bracket. That goes on top of another smaller frame extension bracket which also attaches to the removable front crossmember. It’s not easy to get the bumper lined up doing it by yourself but it can be done. The way I’ve always done it is to bolt all these pieces on finger tight so it can be adjusted. I also place a floor jack that extends high with a small piece of wood and something soft under the tip of the front bumper to give some support when you adjust all the bolts.

Its actually pretty bad that the bumper is not connected to anything. Your nose could end up sagging due to loss of support. Also the bumper not being attached (indirectly) to the frame could cause havoc if you actually crashed. You will have way more damage. It will be a crumple zone.

The extension bracket seems to be there, but I'm wondering how much flexibility there is in the mounting. Also, does anyone have spares they might be willing to part with?

If you have an Assembly manual which may list the part number & picture you are going to have to make some phone calls and also dig through the internet for the parts you need. Informative but tedious.
On the parts for sale section of CF list what your looking for.
The unfortunate issue the parts tend to cost more than we wish but they are 50 plus years old.

Look up ......1968-1972 Corvette C3 Left & Right Front Bumper Corner Reinforcement Brackets

If I run into something I'll let you know.

http://repairs.willcoxcorvette.com/1...-installation/ number 15 bottom of page is the one you are missing. the ones on the left go on the very bottom of the bumperettes. the Lowes version for faking it up and seeing the dimensions you need. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-0-0...orated/3059253

A quick check of ebay shows several of each bracket pictured above. Just tread carefully and take a good look at the pictures.

I've now installed the missing bracket but even maxed out in terms of pushing upwards, I cannot get the bumper to move upward at the corner - it sits about an inch too low. Not sure what else I can do at this point.
