Default 1972 engine pad - any remarks

There is an ‘72 auctioned at BaT and this is the picture of the engine pad stamping:

Any comments on this? Does it look legit?

From a computer screen, it looks OK. Would like a 'real' look at the surface to assess machining marks. The reflections off the surface make me think it is a bit 'wavy'. That would be a problem, as a broach bar would leave a relatively flat surface (with striated machining marks, depending on wear on broach bar teeth).

The vin part of the stamp looks good. Check out the “double vin stamp on pad” thread just below this thread. In that thread it has some examples of 1972 stamps and the vin in this thread has the same characteristics as those in the other thread.

At a minimum it has been aggressively cleaned. Ike

The right side the pad looks to have correct Broach machining lines front to rear. The Left side looks as if some used something trying clean it in what looks like horizontal or left to right markings.

I see a big block head in that photo.

edit - Ah; I see. The auction is for an LT-1; the photo in the first post isn't from that.
