Thats another thing.....I think Im going to get the kind that jacks up and get the good wheels for them. something wwith a hardened bushing or nice bearings
I got these They were on sale and if you bought four, they threw in the storage rack. My garage isn't perfectly smooth, but its not bad. I can move my car very easily using these.
I had to put new casters on my HF dollies to make them usable.
A buddy of mine was working on his old Trans AM and one set of wheels were sitting on a set of dollies. He the jacked the car up, after attempting to remove a stuck bolt, the dollies moved and the car dropped. He was lucky and only had a fractured rib and bruises. Whenever I hear about wheel dollies, it makes me uncomfortable.
I have the ones tagged from Amazon. They do ok but I’m not impressed. I have a new smooth garage floor. One time I was pushing the car into position and the castors weren’t all aligned and the car was actually pushed off the dolly. Luckily no damage but I’m looking to get a better set or possibly upgrade the castors as mentioned.
I have the HF dollies. My floor is flat and clean. I was not able to move the 76' with them. The Corvette is just too heavy for the cheap caster wheels. But, they roll easily with the much lighter 66 Mustang.
I have three sets of these. Have used many through the years like "car Dolly" and others as we have 8 cars in the shop. These are head and shoulders better than anything else.
One person can easily spin any of the Corvettes or even the Trans am in circles by myself. The others work but any change of direction is difficult. These are the best.
Buddy of mine bought a warehouse and the car came with it. Had been sitting in it for over thirty years. 1968 big block tri power convertible. Stick car even.
Back burner project for us. Have stripped the car of all the trim and parts. Stripped the body down and repaired a lot of fiberglass. All new rubber under the car. engine, carbs and tranny rebuilt. Latest work has been rear with u joints and shafts. Stacks of new parts in the shop like interior, suspension, chrome. Kind of a clean slate. Haven't taken pictures of it for a year or so. need to do that.
