Default First road trip

Drove 600 miles this weekend round trip across the state from Tacoma to Pullman, Wa to golf and hang with some friends at WSU. Sun out, tops off the whole way. Car did great, no weird noises or unexpected stops. Didnt need any of the tools I packed. Car never rose above 200-210 even when climbing the long, steep grades through the cascades at 3200-3500 RPM. I probably took a couple years off my hearing, some sound deadening may be needed in my vette’s future.

Great Trip.

My first road trip was around Mt Rainier. Beautiful and a real confidence builder. These cars are special in many ways.

If you make a lot of those kind of trips, you NEED an O/D transmission. The savings on engine wear, fuel mileage, noise level and heat is AMAZING !! It will make your C3 enjoyable to drive on the highway. just a suggestion...

yeah... a $2500 suggestion haha. A 5/6 speed is in the long term plans for this car. I’d like to rebuild the entire front suspension first. It looks rough but doesnt have any play in anything... yet. Already rebuilt the whole rear end. I do have another car that is actually perfect for long road trips, a 91 Eldorado. She has such low mileage though (38,000) I didnt like taking her across the state. It was a very comfortable, quiet ride tho. Maybe i’ll buy a beater caddy for a road trip car.

Great 'pair' to have. Covers all the bases. You can even use the trunk in the Caddy to haul stuff from Lowe's...........

Nothing like a like the view of a C3 hood profile/lines against an open road with beautiful scenery!
