Very sorry to hear this. This is a tremendous loss.
Regretfully I never met or spoke to him personally. Just knew him through his posts. He was very knowledgeable and will be missed.
My condolences to his family and loved ones.
new guy looking for somebody around charlotte NC for help. i told him to see DUB. his wife responded: This is from his wife, Lynn.
Dear Friends/Family: My husband/best friend of 23+ years, Albert “Dub” Dubnicka, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 15th while working at his business. He was 59 years old. He is survived by four sisters, Marcia, Barbara, Kathy and Sue. He was known throughout the Country for his knowledge and perfection to detail in the restoration/repair of Corvettes. His work was his passion along with his great love of all his dogs, and he loved playing air guitar in his shop to his favorite band and idol, the great Eddie Van Halen with the Van Halen group. He is now with all our beloved pets and family, who I know were waiting to greet him in heaven. I am now in the process of closing his business, which will take many months, but I am so thankful for all the support I am receiving from business associates and friends. Every day when I “talk” to Dub, I tell him this isn’t goodbye, but “see you later”. His spirit is free to pop in and out to visit, no more stress, no more worries. If heaven is at all the way our Wolfgang described it, he is now in an awesome place. If you would like to do something in his memory, please donate to the Doberman Rescue of the Triad, or your favorite animal rescue or other charity. I feel like half of me is missing right now. Never let a day go by without appreciating your loved ones – even those times when you are aggravated with them – every day seeing and talking to them is a blessing.
so sorry to hear the news of Albert my sincere condolences to you and your family ❤️ Roman’s 14:7-9
So sorry to hear of his passing. Quite a loss for the Corvette community. I always liked to read his posts and pick up some new knowledge. Seems like he'd been on the Forum forever- surprised to hear he was 8 years younger than me. R.I.P. Dub. We would have got along great, as I also play air guitar.
So sad. I only met him a couple times several years ago when he rebuilt my trailing arms. He was incredibly generous with his knowledge. He'll be sorely missed. RIP.
Damn - very sad news. DUB helped me so much for my project. He dedicated so much of his time to the corvette community. Thankfully his posts will live for many years to come.
I have been reading his posts for years on the Forum after buying my C3. His knowledge and willingness to help everyone was legendary. RIP, another one Of the Good Guys has left us.
Dub was a great forum contributor and I am certain he was one of the few that really knew Corvettes and was an honest hard working man…..something this country is in true shortage of. The best is behind us.
Very sorry to hear this news. Dub was a big help and influence on me working and painting these early generation corvettes. We had some great conversations at his work and home. We both rescued Dobermans from the Triad which was very cool. Will miss ya brother, stay strong Lynn. Very sorry
He was immensely helpful on a fiberglass repair I did and I referred others to his posts because his expertise and experience was obvious; VERY generous with his time here on the forum. It is nice to hear he was a genuinely a good person in all corners of his life. We'll miss you brother.
After many phone calls, where he offered in-depth expertise on my C3, we decided to take my Vette to him. Yes, he was 1/2 way across the country but everyone I spoke to said he was the best.
He has had my vette for 5 years. Initially he said it would be “6 months” but kept finding things he wanted to correct on the car. If you know Dub you know he is a perfectionist and an artist.
We talked more times than I can remember since 2016. Dub and Lynn both I now consider friends as they are both good folks.
Sadly he did not get to complete the restoration of my car. The corvette world lost a good one. Thoughts are with his family and friends. He left some really big shoes to fill!

Oh no! So sorry to hear that! He helped me a lot through the years with my 71 restoration. So knowledgable and always willing to help even to a guy from Europe like myself. His last recommendattion was on the camshaft selection for my rebuild and that is waiting on my workbench to be installed next. Rest in peace DUB!
