If you remove the 2 screws from the bezel then pull the cable and bezel away from the door panel look for a small set screw on the back side of the bezel.

LOL, I deleted that post as it was a stupid question. Went in came back out and took it out !
If your going to remove the mirror and cable assembly make special note of the cable path before pulling cable completely out.
You ask, you shall receive
Not certain what your trying to do. I ran a thread not at all long ago, maybe a month or so. Look at the threads I have started. Anyway, I'm still in the process of converting a 81 column to be a 77 column.
lots of photos in this thread. Go to my profile and you will find a line, all threads started by 4-Vettes. Fairly recent. Easy to find. You need to pull the turn signal switch out to access the retaining clip to pull the ignition barrel.
You tube videos are made by people that know how to make videos. People like myself that know how to fix cars have no bloody clue how to make a video.
the genuine G.M. Chevrolet service manual for 1977 passenger cars has very good directions and several photos.
if you don't have a genuine service manual.
STOP!
Wait till you get one!
Thanks bmototjoe - Its out. Note to self, put on your glasses when you're working out on the shed. I'm use to my vintage Harley's and I don't need my glasses!
Here's what it all looks like
The cream coloured thing in the middle if the picture isn't attached to anything. That's the little rod that runs down the middle of the steering column
So I think I know why the blinkers wouldn't hold. The pin on the end of the little arm that's supposed to slide as you lift the lever is all gummed up and doesnt run smoothly in the channel
We have 2 speeds for the wipers which is good.
Still no washer bottle action despite power at the motor so I'll try and earth it out.
High beams are still a mystery until I read the manual

Your pivot bracket is intact so that is a positive!
The ground wire eyelet for the washer pump circuit has been repaired.
I have seen several that are completely broken at the eyelet or have attempted repair.
The set of contacts the red arrow is pointing to is your ground circuit to the washer pump...
When you press your turn signal lever in, it presses these contacts closed.
If those contacts are misaligned or dirty the washer pump will NOT get a ground signal to turn on.
Dave, To answer your PM question...
Here are a few photos, 1st is the T&T column diagram 74-82
Item #75 is the Dimmer Switch Item #74 is the Dimmer Rod.
About half way down the column there are 2 switches, the left side of column is the Dimmer, right side is Ignition switch.
Dimmer Switch is GM #7829781 for the T&T Column
2nd photo is the Simmer switch and where the dimmer rod end fits...
Also, item #79 is the actuator you may be missing...
