Default Paint and Trim

Question. Does the “L” mean anything next to the Paint? If I am reading this right, the 322 is the Blue/Green interior and the 10 is exterior White. Not sure what the “L” represents….

Three-digit paint codes were replaced with two-digit paint code and added the letter L in 1974. The RPO paint code on buildsheets show that L (lower), M (middle) and U (upper) are used to call out paint codes for body panels. In 1978, M and U are used on trim tags, while L, M and U are called out on the buildsheet to denote two-tone paint schemes for the B2Z silver anniversary (13U/07M) and Pace Car (19U/47M). The B2Z option on the buildsheet lists 13L (SILVER-LWR) and 13U (SILVER-UPR), while 07M is the GRAY MIDDLE. Even though Corvette did not introduce a two-tone paint process until the 1978 model year, GM began use of the alphanumeric code process in 1974. For example in 1976, RPOs 70L and 70U on the buildsheet describes FLAME-LWR (orange) and FLAME-UPR (orange), respectively. This practice continued through 1979.
