True, but I bet the power steering still leaks some so that'll give David something to work on before the rest of us get there

David is probably looking down on us laughing, because he can get the best quality parts, that fit perfect and the parts are always available.
He is, after all in Heaven, and Heaven is what ever he wants it to be.
Can you imagine his shop set up?

He so enjoyed helping other people with his frame knowledge, that he did not even get his own 74 vert restomod project completed.
That has been a multiple year project. But this was at least his 4th or 5th vette build, so he my have been slowing down.
A half dozen of us volunteered to at least get it driving quickly, within a week or so?, and take David for at least one ride in it.
But time was cruel.
We did promise him, and his wife Tammy, that we would finish it.
David asked us to do that, so she could sell it, and not have to worry about it.
So there will be more info to come, as we get together on that.
His best friend Bob K will be spear-heading that project.
It is actually pretty close to being done:

It was originally a quick fix-r-upper, and then turned into a frame-off. Like that has never happened before!

The low mile 72 vert survivor under the cover, up on the lift, is the raffle car from his Michigan Union Block Building fund raising project, that he was spear-heading.
That raffle is still active and I believe set to end in June.

And the crossmember repair lending program ...
And the free parts transporting as he went different places ...
And the looking for parts for people at Carlisle ...
And the key holders and tow / tie down giveaways in the pay it forwards over the years ...
And the everything else he did to help the rest of us out over the years

Knowledgeable, Helpful, Kind, Giving, Humble are really understatements

This car as a couple of Davids cars have spent a few months last winter in my garage. I did as much as I could in the time I had. Had I known what was coming with David I would have put more effort into finishing it for him but at the time we knew nothing about Davids condition. David got more into the frames than finishing this car as he thought he had more time to finish this. His illness came with such fury that nobody could have predicted the car would not get finished in time to go for a ride. I was supposed to meet with Bob today at Davids house but with the weather we had to postpone it to another day. We were going to get a punch list together on what it needs to be completed. Bob said he will then move it to his house and multiple people including me have said we will complete the car. That's the least we can do for a guy who has contributed a lot to us all. Here it is winter of 2022 on top of my Z06. You can see it was getting a Tremec 5 speed and Vintage Air among several other upgrades.

Let me know if I can help in any way. I sold David those 17 inch American Torq Thrust wheels / Nitto.tires mounted on the car in the picture above....they were the wheels and tires I bought for the 69 project I sold, and David drove over to my place an bought them from me. It was the last time I saw or spoke to him.

I have not owned a C3 for many years (about 40 years) but I met David when he and Tammy joined the Easton Area Corvette Club over 25 years ago. Everything posted has been spot on and David was and still is one of the most nicest people I have never had the pleasure of knowing. David was always busy with Corvettes even when he was still traveling for work. I remember when he bought Sparty and he asked me over to look at it and when I did, I wasn't sure there was any life left in Sparty. It was 3 or 4 different shades of Rust-Oleum green and was a mix of years put together. David saw something in that Corvette that I didn't but I was not surprised a few years alter when Sparty was finished. Prior to Sparty, David took a walk on the wild side with his racer. That was an interesting project that he finished and sold before he even drove it. I could go on about my friendship with David but my fingers would be worn out from typing. I received a text from David on December 12th letting me know about his condition and how he was going to take on the deal he was handed. The last time I saw David was on December 17th when I stopped over to see him and Tammy. Throughout his endeavor, David always kept a positive attitude knowing the odds were against him. David wasn't just a Corvette guy, he was a family guy who always put his family first. My last text with David was on January 29th when he shared the devastating news with me. David will not be forgotten and he will always put a smile on my face when I think of him. All of you folks who posted in this forum are fortunate to have dealt both in person and over the internet with David. Being geographically only a few miles away from David's home, I have offered to help with anything needed including Corvette related. I will miss David's friendship and his sense of humor. I am not dry eyed as I write this but when someone you respected and enjoyed life with is taken, it is not fair and is difficult to understand. May you rest in peace David S. Howard and God bless you!

David had two last requests for me.

He asked me to finish his 74 so he could have a quick ride. He left us too soon. I will be bringing the car to my garage to finish it.

He also asked if I would continue pushing the raffle tickets for his 72 Convertible.

i can be reached by pm if anyone has questions.

I just put this together and realized I was supposed to meet up with David last summer, but never got the chance. Very sorry to hear about his passing. My condolences to his family.

I hope Bob K does not mind.
Here are the details of David's last charity.
He was giving away his 31k mile survivor 72 4spd vert.
It benefits a historic building in his home town.
Now who here would not like a chance at a car like that for $100?

Here is the website:

I'm very sorry to hear this sad news. David was a true gentleman and an asset to the Corvette hobby. I always looked forward to stopping by his Corvettes at Carlisle vendor space and talking with him. RIP David and condolences to his family.

I met David here on the forum many years ago. I was lucky enough to get to know him and call him friend. He was a honest and good person that gave without hesitation. He just wanted to help others enjoy our hobby and see our cars and parts back to service. He personally made me a better person by following his example. David set the bar high. Ride free brother until we meet again!

What a terrible loss! I had the pleasure of meeting David at his home where we swapped some parts and he gave me the tour of his projects. A super nice person and as seen by the response here on the forum he touched many of us. I just sent him some parts this past Christmas as part of the "gift exchange" for his 72 so I hope they got incorporated into the raffle car. He will be missed.

I'm very sad to hear of David's passing. I closely followed his Sparty thread, which was such an inspiration. I asked him several questions over the years, which he always answered so thoroughly and in such a helpful manner. It was clear he was a man of great integrity, knowledge and humility, and I know he will be sorely missed. My sincerest condolences to David's family and to his many friends here on the forum.
