Well those motors he uses are originally designed for rear wiper use. Now that in itself doesn't make it a bad thing but it it does lack the manual raise **** and the long output shaft that's not supported in our application gives me concern. Those motors in Richard's kits are manufactured by Mitsuba with main headquarters in japan with a global presence and manufacturing around the world. While they do have several manufacturing plants in the USA, it's actually unclear where those motors are actually manufactured.
Hey come on up to Fernandina Beach-it's what-an hour away. I'll buy lunch. Be glad to show you how it's built. Oh the shaft is hardened steel- I let you put it in a vice with a sledge hammer and you'll see how tough the metal shaft/ gears are. Seriously- head on up this way- or if you head up for the Amelia Concours d'Elegance next weekend.
Contact Richard Hayes, Richard454, by PM on this forum.
Richard manufacturers the best quality conversion kit on the market.
He uses nothing but quality components and his customer service is the greatest.
Richard has sold hundreds of conversion kits to forum members and I’ve never heard of one problem or complaint.
You can't find reproduction vacuum parts that work- right size-quality- because they are copied and made in China.
So you replace the "badly" produced/copied parts with another part made in the same place-but requires you to modify the car- not work as originally ( comes up with parking lights)plus no instructions or tech support.

Another vote for Richard's Kit (Richard Hayes, Richard454). The best there is, and best engineered. Everyone else tries to copy his. I have this and also his electric wiper conversion kit. Hard to get a good pic, but .........

Actually they do come with instructions, the trigger wire goes to the dimmer switch so they only come up when the headlights are on, and the seller included his email address in case you run into trouble.

Mine oepn with the headlights, not just the running lights.

You still have to cut up your headlight actuator support frames- and those are $250/each.....
If I were to convert to electric headlight doors, hands down I would go with Richards kit. So far I have found a good source for properly rebuilt vacuum relays and actuators are really straightforward.
Quick question for the folks who have done this - How many feet of vacuum tubing did you remove since it wasn't needed any more? Does anyone have a pic of the mound of stuff you removed? Is there a definitive guide detailing what needs to be removed?
My electric actuators came in a few days ago and I am curious as to how much 1980 Vacuum stuff I can remove,,,,

Over 21 feet of hose from just under the hood! I left the original vacuum hoses under the dash alone for now.
Not in the picture is the Chock Full of Nuts coffee can vacuum tank.
I forgot to mention I reroute the HVAC vacuum line with it's own check valve. That cut out a foot or two. My 82 has a TPI system in case you were wondering.
I went with Richard’s electric headlight kit, went to Vintage Air’s ac system, removed the charcoal canister, PCV, and every vacuum operated component on my 73.
The only vacuum line on my entire car will be the vacuum advance to the distributor and my engine builder says I don’t even need that.

Why did you delete the PVC? PVC is actually beneficial.
